I didn't know that Michigan didn't accept transcripts from AADSAS. I finally got them sealed transcripts from my schools and they rejected me.

Your stats aren't that high and yet you got into 3 pretty good schools. Screw Penn. You must either have great DAT scores, excellent extracurrics., a great personality or all 3. Good on you! 👍

It completly depends on the schools. Some do only mail, some mail+e-mail.

I think that they rejected you because they know you won't come to their schools by looking at schools you applied. That's the only answer I can come up at this moment unless you really screwed your personal essay (I don't think that's the case).

Hold status doesnt mean you have flat out been rejected. It means you are on hold. The school will see how many students actually put down a deposit and have a good idea of how many seats they still have available and will have a second wave of acceptances that will come out in the middle of Jan. There is still hope in other words.

Me too. But you got rejected with those DAT scores? What was your overall GPA? Did you find out on AADSAS or did you recieve a letter.

Ya, the same thing is happening to me with Louisville. I interviewed there last year and havn't heard a thing this year despite having a better gpa. 😡

how much slack to they give to instate people? for exaple say MN had averages of 3.5 and 19...does that mean to get in from out of state you need something like a 3.8 and a 22 and for instate it's closer to a 3.2 and 17? Since it's so hard to get into from out of state it must mean the out of state numbers are much higher than the instate numbers and thus the averages are inflated a bit?

I think there is some truth to this. State schools have fewer out of state slots to fill so the competition will be higher for those slots. Like you said you need to remember that those are thier averages, which means that there was some lower in state gpa's to bring down those high out of state gpa's. With that said I don't think you can be way below thier averages.

I want to go to UF. I made that very clear in my thank you letter... maybe too clear! I just got back from BU interview -- I think I like Boston more than Gainesville =) But then... the tutition, sheesh...

50k a year versus 28k a year. That's quite a big chunk of difference, and cost of living is insane up there too.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to agree with J.S. on this one. I don't know if you're kidding or not, but I hope this isn't a concern for any dental student out there!

I'm thrilled with and proud of my stats and am SO happy for everyone else who got into the schools they wanted to go to. HermeytheElf, a 4.0 in itself can mean a huge amount or nothing depending on a variety of factors.

We're going to dental school because we WANT to and should be EXPECTING a classfull of brilliant minds! There are very few, if any, "slackers" in d-school; that's why there's such a low dropout rate. The selection happens BEFORE you get in, so those who are in are there for the long haul.

Hermey, if you are avoiding any dental school classes that have "genius" minds, I'm afraid I have some bad news for you....
