I read the rejection again and it's impressively tactful. Also, it says over 1600 people applied this year, which surprised me.

Rejection letter from Edinburgh today. They sent it in a large envelope. Don't they know the rules, large envelopes are for acceptances. Bad Edinburgh.

Agreed. I got excited when I got a letter in a big envelope from EDI. Unfortunately, my big envelope did not contain a letter of acceptance. Received on 2/1/07.

Auburn & CSU both on 2-1. Ouch! But considering that both getting a full time job or going into the phD program are options that pay rather than cost money, I think I'll survive. I can start saving for the next try! 😀
I have a feeling I'll be receiving my last one very soon. Thought i stood some chance to get in, but from the looks of it now, seems like I'll be averaging 0-2 in this category. Hopefully they provide insight into how i can actually get in rather than the previous school that offered no real consolation but a backlash as to how badly my grades suck and how i stand no chance of ever being a vet.

I understand, Bullet. I had one interview out of five schools I've applied to, and that interview wasn't at my in-state school. Despite the fact that I've taken 4 of their first-year veterinary courses and excelled in them, despite the fact that I've been a graduate student with no less than a 3.88 GPA for the past six years (having taken advanced courses beyond the typical core courses), they're still relying solely on my core course GPA which is 3.0 and rejectin me from there. I'm above average on everything else. Western appears to be the only school that doesn't automatically fling you. Rather, they truly do look at the overall candidate. Have you applied to Western?

Yes I love the "Hello I'm a loser conversation with the vet schools" I applied two years ago post a B.S. at Tuft. Now I have my M.S. am applying again. I got the Rejection from Washington and Colorado. (That letter always sucks, but fortunately they didnt depress me too much because I had an interview to Tufts and Minnesota.) I'll keep you all posted on what i hear from who.

No, no interview for me either. Not to sound pessimistic but they said they were having 7-9 weeks of interviews. They have notified people for the 7th week, so I'm thinking they are done. The letter came by snail mail (I live in Ohio) and was postmarked the 15th.
I work at Penn and am also waiting on that letter from penn too for an interview. The UPenn interviews go up until the last weekend in March. They typically contact you two weeks before the interview, and from people I talked to last year who had their interview on the last friday of march (March 25th) she said that they called her by phone and asked her if she was still interested or had she already accepted somewhere. I think by the end they know a lot of people will accept to a school that has accepted them....so they start to call people instead of sending out letters and getting no responses back. I would say dont worry about UPenn unless you havent heard anything by the second or third week in March. Good luck.
How did you find out they interview until the end of March? I know that PATHbrd posted in one of the Penn threads that they probably won't be interviewing the weeks of the 9/16th because of spring break. Being that they said 7-9 interview groups, I don't think they would send out a group of rejection letters one week and send the rest out the next week, but who knows?

At my interview a few weeks ago, we were told that they would not be sending out any more interviews if they accepted 20 from our group as they had been doing for the ealier weeks. So it did not sound as though you're guaranteed interviews through the end of March.
Got my NC State rejection letter in the mail yesterday.
Really, I had never heard the Ohio thing before. I too am an Ohio resident and none of the people that I know that applied to Penn received an interview, and some are extremely qualified candidates. I really don't understand why some schools factor in state status (like penn/davis, purdue/ohio). Does anyone know of any other schools that do that, just out of curiosity?
I had met with the admissions guy at Penn when I was a post-bacc student at Penn (as part of a visit arranged by my program). There were two of us there that day, and one was a PA resident and the other was me, an Ohio resident. He basically said that I had a fantastic school in my state (which with I agree) and that it would be extremely difficult for me to get into Penn out of state. Apparently he was right, because I like to think of myself as an otherwise well-qualified applicant (2 offers, 2 other interviews that I haven't yet heard back from). Oh well. I wasn't super-keen on moving back to the east coast anyway!
Thats really interesting, thanks for the info. Now I can just blame my lack of interview on that 😉
