Which schools have actually sent out rejections? Because I know for some schools, you are in the pile of rejections but they do not actually send it out until may or june.

I received a rejection letter from Nova very early on... Like September. Another from UNLV in November and finally Midwestern (AZ) and NYU in December. I found the December ones pointless because obviously if there's no interview by then, well, you kind of have your answer.

UNLV, ASDOH, MWU-IL/AZ, UCSF, CASE, Tennessee, NYU
in that order from as early as August (UNLV) to December (NYU)

Temple, Midwestern-IL, UDM, Marquette (don't know why I applied to those last two...)

Not sure, but perhaps creating a poll would make it easier to view this info at a glance?

Only 1 rejection from the jokers at LECOM (this school wont stand the test of time). Accepted to Temple, BU, GHSU, Pitt, UK, and a Penn interview coming up

Just so people don't get downhearted if they read this post, this is not true for many schools. There are lots of schools that are far from done interviewing right now.

Why does everyone hate on LECOM so much? I applied there but haven't really done much research about the school

rsalha, think of it like this:

LECOM is that friend/acquaintance/someone you know who talks a big game about a lot of things, but can't back any of it up.

that's why.

on paper, that school seems like it's going to be solid clinically though. again, only time will tell.

but isnt that how ALL new schools start out?...

I honestly loved LECOM and would choose it over the other new schools like Roseman, Western, etc.

Not necessarily. I personally didn't get that vibe from western for instance. It's one thing to say that you'll be a solid school....but it's another thing to say that and bash other schools at the same time.

I think Lecom has a lot of potential but the reason I stated above is prob why people have that view of the school

I just think one visit doesnt justify a reason to label the school as good or bad. It might've made a bad or good impression on you, but I don't think you can deem it as a good or bad dental school until you actually attend. I mean they do have a DO school (even though its been built in the last 20 years) and I'm sure theyll take alot of the philosophy that they had in the med school into the dental school.

we'll see. i visited twice and got the same vibe both times. either way, if all goes according to plan they'll be solid in a few years, once the clinic is built.

Because they either got rejected, or cannot deal with the idea of change.

I interviewed at LECOM and was actually rejected after the interview, but harbor no bad feelings towards them (besides the fact that they coulda had a nice spread for snacks/food, given we got there super early in the morning...)

There were certain things that really impressed me about LECOM: clinic is crazy cool, tons of clinical experience, and the fact that you start off in clinic pretty much right off the bat.

However, LECOM was not for me, but just because it's not for me, I don't think it's a bad school--in fact, I see it as having a lot of potential in the future to be one of the strongest clinical schools.

The things I didn't like about LECOM was the 48 wk school year...that's still too long for me to deal with. PBL, I don't think it's the proper learning method for a person like me. And the fact that I would have very little opportunity to specialize if I wanted to at a later point--I'm not sure if I want to or not, but I'd like to be the one who decides.

The school is brand new and the area's really nice, even though they said it was the number 1 retirement city in the world. Even the area is brand new--like 3 years old.

Just because people were rejected by the school or cannot comprehend a change in curriculum, please don't look down upon other schools. I'd say it's very commendable of them to even TRY to be competing with other, extremely reputable dental schools in the nation. And change takes time, but this might be a good route for dental students who feel that the lecture-based learning style is not meant for them.

At the end of the day, my parents always tell me, only worry about yourself, so with that in mind...to each their own, and best of luck to all of you. 🙂

rejected from buffalo this morning....my number one choice 🙁 i was hoping they were going to wait for the academic update period to be completed because 3 of the 5 final marks i have received this semester are in the 90's (anatomy, physiology, and stats)...crappy way to begin christmas...guess i'll just have to keep on truckin'!

I am sorry to hear about your rejection :/ has anyone else heard back from any schools? Do you guys think that schools are waiting to consider the academic update before sending out any rejections or additional post-Dec invites?

Was Buffalo through email or snail mail? If it's snail mail, I'll probably be getting it soon too.

Anyways, my list of rejections (not in order received...in order that I can remember them): MWU-AZ, MWU-IL, Case Western, Indiana, Loma Linda, Nova, Temple, UPenn, LECOM (after interview), and Meharry.

Good luck to everybody, and hopefully we'll hear some good news soon. 🙂:xf:

OMG I took my first PBL class this past semester and HATED it. I can't imagine going to a school where everything was taught via PBL.

But I'm sure it works well for some people. It's just not for me.
