your TA is an idiot... I didn't even friend my students on fb until after the semester was over... You just don't do that kind of stuff when you are a TA. Once the semester is over, who cares, but in the middle of the semester???

Exactly. You wouldn't want them knowing all of the personal things that are on your Fb. That doesn't mean you can't be friends with them. Just know your boundaries.

I'm not sure. Should I ask him out? Is that weird? What if he says no? I'll look so stupid. If he says yes, it'll be great, though! Where will he want to go? What will I wear if he says 'yes'? Do I go back to his place? What about mine?..." Take your pick.

We are not all like that. Ok, maybe about the what to wear part. But the rest, stereotyping. 😛

Speaking of which, there's this super hot guy in my class with me. I asked him to borrow a pencil today, and he gave me one. When he did he said "Sure, no problem." But it wasn't like a normal "sure, no problem." It was like, ya know, different. Do you think that means he likes me? He's so dreamy. What kinda hints should I give him? Should I ask him to study with me? Is that too obvi????

:laugh::laugh::laugh: that's even better, a two-pronged strategy. Honestly, guys pick up hints very quickly, we scan for hints/vulnerabilities then go for the kill. That's just the hand of evolution. Now, if he's shy, he may be a little hesitant/unsure and prone to overanalyze ur moves. So don't think he's uninterested just yet...

lol that's nothing to worry about. Basically it means it shouldn't take much or long for him to pick up on ur interest. Because we go after girls more than girls come after us, we have radars to pick up these subtleties. When u have a crush on someone, u subconsciously telegraph it by the way u talk, smile and even look at them. He probably has some clue already...😀

WTF?!? One of my TAs (who is only in charge of quizzes, 10% of my lab grade) happens to be another nontraditional student who is exactly my age...we realized during week one that we graduated high school the same year. It turned out that we had a lot in common. She asked me to hang out, but only after the semester was over. She didn't give me preferential treatment in grading...she was definitely fair.

Now that she's not my TA, we're good friends. Honestly, her input would have made virtually NO difference in my lab grade. If I was doing poorly and she falsely gave me 100% on my lab quizzes, it wouldn't have made a difference. She's a grad student, and she couldn't have convinced my professor to change my grade. But she was responsible and ethical...when she was told not to form friendships (or relationships, a much stickier issue) with students, she didn't.

The fact that your TA asked you to meet her outside of class is downright slimy. I wouldn't act immediately, but it your grades drop after you refuse to see her, definitely file a complaint. Whatever you do, DON'T get involved in this mess!!!
 
Just say "Let's wait till the semester's over so no one gets in trouble." Problem solved. How is this topic worth 2 pages of posts?

My sister created an account on collegeconfidential.com (similar to SDN but about colleges) and created a thread that she blew her teacher. She never did it, but she just wanted the reactions. Then the thread was deleted, and she never returned to the website. lol.

I had a group of friends on CC that liked to make threads like that too. That forum is a lot more uptight than SDN when it comes to moderation.
 
Not that you would actually do this ksmi, but if you straight up grab the guy's ass as many of us guys on this thread have suggested, I think guys would think something quite different than what they're saying on this thread.

Personally, at first I'd be like "wow, now I know she's into me let's go for it", but then I'd think about ten seconds later and realize, "wait, what kind of girl does that... does she have an STD? Does she have daddy issues? Is she dating a much stronger BF that she's trying to get back at?" And then I'd probably run away and wash myself.


In summary:
First I'd be all like :idea:
Then I'd be like :barf:

I was just about to bring up sexual harassment thing. Once it gets physical, it gets messy in more than one way. You can also harass someone verbally too, I guess. Yes there is somewhat of a double standard, but some women are aggressive and it be serious business. Remember Mary Kay Letourneau? The kid was in 6th grade, so different situation there, but still...WATCH OUT and just be cautious, no matter how old you are.
