I'm finally done with all my interviews. I had 7 and turned 2 more down. I guess I'll just list how things went.
Missouri had a good interview process. The staff was friendly, but I think that some individual professors ask tough questions. One asked me to describe how epinephrine bonded to the CNS. Not what it did, but how it bonded. wtf. I interviewed there last year too. Result, wait list both times.
Arkansas - well I didn't like the closed application format. Some doctors and professors simply don't have much in the way of personality. I got 2 such professors. Other than that the administration were friendly and they actually had good senses of humor. Wait list
Creighton - Great interview. Friendly administrators and professors. Really seemed to recruit people to their school. Wait list
Iowa - Good interview, but the students seemed like they weren't having any fun. Wait list.
Des Moines - 2nd favorite interview. The staff and students really made it feel like they wanted you there. Loved the surgery lab and the facilities. I guess the president is a former govenor of Iowa or something. Accepted.
KCUMB - So so interview. They acted like they wanted you there, to the point where they actually fitted us for our white coats. It was personable, but i felt like our student tour guides were the only ones that we interacted with. Accepted.
Colorado - interviewed on the last day. Great interview, I was late b/c I got lost in Denver, and they went out of their way to make it seem like it was their fault. 2 good interviews, a long campus tour. Probably the best interview I had. Accepted.
All in all I don't think the interview made or broke me. I think Colorado was going to accepted me as long as I could make complete sentences. The DO schools really liked my experience with DO's. I think that I got better at the process, and for Colorado I didn't really care anymore. I liked the place, but I wanted to go skiing. Also when I found out how many out of state students they accept I figured I had a snowball chance in hell. Here's to the snowball.
