Nobody cares if you have spent time at a community college. It will not hurt you.

On the other hand, it if is in place of something else and your application is deficient in something else, then yes, of course it will make getting in harder.

Yes. The stigma against CC coursework seems to be abating, but it will vary between schools.

More importantly, going to CC ->4 year school is nowhere as near as bad as merely trying to avoid the weeding courses while at a 4 year school from the get -go

Just show consistent good grades in both cc & a uni and you shouldn't have an issue, going to cc becomes a problem when you go from cc to a uni and your performance worsens. I wouldn't suggest taking pre-reqs at a cc, but anything else? Heck yeah, some of us don't have money to throw around.

Adding to the chorus here -- going to CC is fine.
n=2, but:
One of my friends started out at a CC and is now going to a T-10 med school.
I have ~30 CC credits on my transcript and am going to a T-10 school.

Just as possible as it will be for me to start at a prestigious university and end up at a "lower tier" medical school.

So, very.

What is T-10?

Dr. Miami on Snapchat went to a CC and went on to Wash U.

The city I lived in during high school has the second rated JUCO in the country, and many of their students go on to outstanding medical schools.

Isn't Brooklyn College a 4yr school? It's also where Bernie went before transferring to UChicago.

To OP, going to a CC won't be as helpful as going to a top school and getting a high GPA (easier said than done), but I think you'll be on equal footing with other applicants from non-top schools if you have all the other parts of the app in place

I stand corrected, they are a senior college. However, many that attend do later transfer to finish undergrad, I know that for a fact.

I would just make sure that if you're in a position in several years where you are a borderline applicant and still obsessed with the idea of prestige, make less than four or five reaches, and the majority of your school list in a realistic range. Look at the MSAR and try not to be delusional. Knowing people with your mindset who have made it to that stage, they usually end up scratching their heads trying to think what went wrong during a failed application season when 80% of the schools they applied to, they really had no business doing so.
