Due to my excellent luck and scheduling foresight, I'm going to be making two trips to the same area within a span of three weeks for interviews. I've already sent an "In the area" email to nearby schools, and received responses ranging from silence to "We will prioritize review of your application and let you know". I sent the email at the beginning of Sept.

Should I send another email, giving them more options for dates I'll be almost literally on their doorstep?

I wouldn't contact them again. But it's really dependent on how brave and confident you're feeling that you'll have an acceptance somewhere.

Don't send another one until they have replied or responded to your first one.

I think there is a limit to how much of this one should do at any particular school...more than once in the span of a month appears toolish to me...

I don't think it can hurt you to let them know you will be in town. Wouldn't you feel like an idiot if you get an interview invite the day you get home from the trip? As long as your email is humble and respectful, I can't see them sitting around counting the days between your emails.

I would strongly recommend against this.
