Hi guys!

I know there are a lot of threads on retaking classes but I still did not get my answer.

So I took the Chem series at a University of California (Chem 1A, 1B, 1C). I am planning to retake the class at a community college (Semester, offers Chem 1A, Chem 1B). How does that work out? Do I get to pick which course to replace which?

Can anyone help me out? How does the review board determine which class lines up with which?

did you go to UC Irvine? LOL only at UCI the general chemistry is Chem 1A, B, C lolzz

i think 3 quarters = 2 semester, general chemistry matches with general chemistry

Yes I did! So how does that work though? If I retake 1A at IVC, i just replace it for Chem 1A. and 1B for Chem 1B? and just leave 1C alone?

gg, you already graduated from UCI?

no 1A + 1B substitued for chem 1A,1B, 1C at UCI, thats how its supposed to work, if you take chem 1A at IVC only in semester, it only substitutes for the first class.

i dont understand how you havent found this, its clear as daylight. Since you're retaking on a semester system you only get to replace 2 classes. you dont get to CHOOSE by any means, you must go by course description.

chem 1 at a CC TYPICALLY equates to 1A and half of 1B
chem 2 at a CC TYPICALLY equates to half of 1B and 1C

if chem 1 predominantly covers chem 1A topics then only this can be replaced. same goes for chem 2 and 1C.

This usually isnt a problem as students typically only have 1 or 2 to retake. you're out of luck trying to get a 1:1 replacement if you're saying you bombed all 3.

thanks for the reply! i only did bad in the 2nd class of the three. which sucks :/ looks like i wont be retaking the class.

if you're talking D> then find another CC whose Chem 2 most closely matches the 1B you need. if you're from orange county, you shouldn't have a single problem finding a palpable CC as long as you're willing to drive...

Nope got a C. but I am just trying to find classes to take for this summer so it will still be in time for the application. Currently at 3.35 cum/3.2 science right now.
