I shadowed several physicians at the clinic where I volunteered but it was quite a few and took place over the last 3 years on a relatively informal basis so I don't know any of their names (probably should have written it down but I was too uninformed at the time to know I would need that kinda of specific detail).

Can I just write that I shadowed multiple volunteer physicians for approximately *total hours* and list the clinic director as the contact? (not that there would be any actual record of this, although it did really happen).

Thanks

That's probably your best bet. To any freshmen reading this thread, do make a spreadsheet for shadowing where you keep track of basic info like names, dates, contact info, time shadowed, and what you learned. Immensely useful come AMCAS time.

They don't have a directory with photos? were many residents? In that case, put the attending name and say "and his residents."

no, it was an entirely volunteer, free clinic.

I mean will these hours even get counted? they make up the bulk of my shadowing.

My experiences at a free clinic were also very similar. Lots of informal shadowing with several volunteer physicians. I think you'd be fine listing the clinic director and an estimated number of hours. But I imagine you could easily get the names and specialties of the docs from a clinic coordinator based on what days/hours you saw them. They usually have some sort of calendar set up of who comes in when
