Can you still graduate?

Multiple C's are OK, do you still get the credits for the class even with a D? Some univ's don't give out credits if you get lower than a C

If you get the credits I'd think you are OK.
 
Depends on the school that accepted you and the class in which you received a D. D is considered "not passing" just about everywhere. I know my school specifically stated in my acceptance package that any grade below a C from there on out needed a letter of explanation sent. The school would then decide if they were going to honor or rescind my offer of admission.

Safest bet - call the admissions office "anonymously" and ask what they recommend. You may be fine or able to retake it before matriculation [summer school].

Did they acceptance letter explicitly say you had to have certain grades? Like others have said contact the school and ask.

If a school has an explicit policy requiring a C or above in all remaining coursework (most schools seem to follow this rule), then it certainly is within the schools right ot rescind. More likely a school will make you retake a course the summer before matriculation if it's something required. I've heard of people having to do this. Best to not coast even after acceptance.
 
ouch. either way, i cant see them taking away your offer. you might need to write a letter explaining what happened, but unless it's clearly stated somewhere that you need a "c" or higher, i think you'll be fine. id pray they have not over-admitted this year!

What class was the D in? If it's biochem (someone mentioned that above, yeah?) then it's a bigger deal than some sports class or museum appreciation class or something. Think of it... "This student doesn't appreciate museums, or maybe can't hit a tennis ball right..." vs. "This kid can't do biochem."

Get in contact with the school; they'll know soon enough anyway, and Harvard's probably got enough applicants that aren't pulling D's... Probably. How were the rest of your grades? Those may help out if they are awesome... although it may make the D seem even more strange... I don't know, this is a tough situation!

Like zipmedic said, let the school help you through it. They can let you know what you need to/can do. If you do it anonymously, do it carefully... how many entering Harvard students will be working to solve a D? I'm not trying to sound mean, just trying to be straightforward.

I personally think you're going to be ok, but who knows? Where are those admins?? 🙂
 
Personally, I could care less. You should have figured this out before you took a vacation. If you are smart enough to get into med school, you should be smart enough to figure out the consequences of f'ing up. It is not that tough and you should have known all the implications before you got the "D" or whatever it was. No sympathy at all. No one is going to save your butt down the road because you cannot figure out the consequences of your actions in advance. Grow up.

wow, thanks for the wide range of responses...lol, first off, i never once said what school im going to and i think it funny that ppl like to speculate...but um, i guess ill call the school and ask...nothing is down for sure yet and the class is an elective hnr seminar that i should have dropped...the grade mainly a result of missed classes due to revist/welcome back weekends/senioritis...my other grades are un-impressive...

not looking for sympathy, i take full responsibility. i was just really wondering if should say something first, even as a preemptive measure, or if ppl had anecdotes about this happening b4...

nah...once a year taught special seminar...it meets once a week for 3 hrs a day..mandatory attendance. but it met on fridays...as u can imagine...not the best class 2 take as a senior lol
 
yea, lol... a lot of people at my U hate their honors senior seminar as its pretty much a waste of time...
 
As long as you have enough credits to graduate, you should be fine.

As those who try to bring up their gpa with an A discover, one grade isn't going to move your gpa by that much and likewise, a single D isn't going to have much negative effect on your gpa.

He isn't talking about a GPA concern or enough credits to graduate -- he is talking about the fact that most med school acceptance letters condition the acceptance on maintaining "at least a C" in all remaining coursework. He isn't, so he technically fails the conditional acceptance, and a med school is free to rescind. They probably won't, but places have been known to make people retake required things. It's their option because he didn't meet the conditions of his acceptance. While I don't think anything bad will happen to the OP, this thread should serve as a warning to those premeds who decide to totally slack off after interviews -- bad idea -- never worth the risk.

lmao denver was ice cold in the fourth quarter.. missed their first 10 or so shot attempts.. took way too many 3's. otherwise they would have won- LA was outplayed the entire game. too much kobe bryant (41pts), not enough melo/billups, and we got in foul trouble.

denver/cavs final.

We're so off topic, but....


Lakers played terribly and still pulled off the win on Denver's home court where they hadn't lost yet in the playoffs. Denver is toast. Lakers in 5 or 6.
 
like i said... kobe got hot late because he was being defended by someone WAY less talented than melo. melo was in foul trouble so he sat out a good chunk of the game and didnt cover #24 per usuall, and was essentially scoreless in the second half mainly due to this as well. billups was ice cold, denver missed a lot of shots in the 4th.. etc. wasnt their best showing, so im not worried.

... denver almost won game 1 and came back to win game 2 IN LA. you guys have yet to dominate denver, even at home. i dont know why you would think the series is over.
