Hello SDN, thank you to the individuals who gave input on my last thread. I apologize if this question is an obvious one, but I want to be sure before I hit the launch button.

Is the procedure for withdrawing my application different once I have paid the deposit? Or do I still just send admissions an e-mail thanking them for their time and consideration in selecting me - but that I have decided to withdraw my application. I know the deposit is not binding, I'm just out a good chunk of change (which I am fine with), but it still feels wrong to withdraw at this point.

Thank you very much for any input you can provide.

On a few portals there's a button to click through in order to withdraw.

No harm in calling

There's nothing remotely "wrong" about doing it. The school received a nice $2k gift from you and will take someone else off of their wait list who actually wants to attend (and will pay them ANOTHER $2k deposit + tuition)

It's a win-win for them.

EDIT: I wonder how much revenue these programs make from the deposits of individuals who choose to withdraw. I'd have to imagine it's >$100k. That's a nice chunk of change.

There's nothing to feel wrong about. You are money to them. You just gave them $2,000 for free and they will fill that seat with someone else.

I got accepted to my top choice DO program several hours after losing that BCOM deposit...
