Hey guys,

I am in IU school of medicine. I'm taking 12 credit hours this semester, 9 of which are for a grade (three, 3 hour classes). I might get B's (probably B+) in two of them. Do you think that is a problem? Because it says that I need to maintain my current level of academic performance. One of the classes is physical chemistry, which is pretty hard. The other class is a wine class, which is also fairly information intensive. It's not like I'm slacking off, I'm just a little less "on top of it" and I guess the particular courses aren't working in my favor either. My current GPA is 3.84 cum btw.

I don't think you are in the IU School of Medicine if you're taking physical chemistry and a class about wine. Try again.

I think he/she means that they were accepted to IU school of medicine and they are now taking those courses at their current undergraduate college.

I think he means he is MS-0 at IU and finishing up his undergraduate career and wants to make sure his acceptance doesnt get rescinded for getting B's, which I really don't think it will...

P.S. I had a friend at Purdue who took some sort of wine class too. What's with indiana???

It's pretty clear he's saying he has been accepted to that medical school, but is currently taking these classes at his last semester of Undergrad.

And to the OP: I would be shocked if any school recinded you acceptance for a B average. When they say 'maintain your academic performance' I'm pretty sure what they mean is 'don't get a bunch of Ds and Fs'.

Gotcha. OP: you are safe. As long as you pass those courses, you should be fine. Note that your acceptance package should have included a blurb about performance in coursework underway.

Are you actually asking us whether they will rescind your acceptance to medical school if you get a B+ in Wine 101???

I would rescind your acceptance for asking this absurd question.

Well the packet said "maintain my current level of academic success," which previous to this semester is a 3.84. So I am just wondering what the general expectations are.

Oops! Sorry, my first post was poorly worded. I'm a senior now.

Ha ha I go to Miami University in Oxford, they have a wine class there.

No, as long as you have all the required pre-med classes, then you are fine. Med schools who have already accepted you aren't going to look down upon you for taking wine classes. 😉

However, try not to get too many Cs or below.

Dont fail classes. Dont get a criminal record. You're good to go.

You should be fine as long as you didn't forget to mention a speeding ticket.

Any updates on that guy?

I got a C+ (first of undergrad) and two B's after getting accepted, which is way below the 3.91 I had been maintaining, and I was fine. Don't let it get much lower than that and you'll be fine too!

You have to mention speeding tickets? It only said to mention any new developments on your criminal record? Because I've gotten a speeding ticket since I've been accepted...

They're talking about a specific case on SDN recently where a guy got his acceptance offer rescinded due to his not reporting a misdemeanor (a speeding ticket, in a few jurisdictions, is a misdemeanor.)
