MD & DO Research as a third year

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How do you approach research as a third year? After clinic I just feel so drained 🙁
Kinda sorta a third year myself (I say kinda sorta because I'm still technically a 2nd year but more than half way through rotations): Take it 1 step at a time, and make sure you work with mentors who are understanding. The ability to publish this year esp as first author is...challenging, so I'd focus on low hanging fruit (ie case reports) and leave bigger chart review projects, and especially anything that would require extensive wet lab work, to the side

forgot to mention:

Midtier USMD, interested in academic neuro, maybe interventional rads

Currently working with a few neurologists on systemic reviews and a couple papers. No first author opportunities atm :/

First author for anything beyond a case series is hard. I'd say just focus on getting out what you can, and then see where the chips fall from there
