Research in first year

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
See how your grades are through a few exams and if you can afford to do research during the school year- the most common thing to do is reserach in the summer between year 1 and 2.

I was told to wait until I knew I could master my classes. I wish I didn't listen. I did well in my classes but was unable to find a research position 1/2 way through the year. If you are disciplined and can manage your time well I would say go for it.

Your screen name is Jihad - really...

Wait till you are a senior. Then, when everything is just right, jump off a bridge.

thank you BJJ...i guess not everyone is an ignorant bigot like rickbobby

Hey thanks for the advice guys. Looks like I'll searching earlier rather than later then.

And as for "pre-health" RickyBobby, thanks for the sarcasm, but I can assure you that I did not choose my name because I am Muslim or want to "jump off a bridge"

I guess not. It's a shame to not realize what this word truly means in the hearts of those that live for the day when the U.S. is destroyed.

Considering that group of people is a fraction of the entire muslim population? Maybe 1/100 (If that) muslims want to see the U.S. destroyed...a good number of them are probably more patriotic than you.

Probably, hopefully anyway. I can be a bit of a pessimist at times. Especially when confronted with statistics that are pulled from thin air.

Hey Rickybobby. Look up what "Jihad" means. It means "to struggle". Isn't that something we all do? Introduction to religion was a mindblower. Its also shocking that more muslims live in China than the entire middle east. Though was never see Chinese muslims in the media. Lol, you sound mad as hell. What's wrong?

Seeing as the Hui( Ethnic group which amasses most of the Muslims in China) population in China is around 1% of the population. However this number could be deflated as the Chinese nation considers the majority of its nation (800million) atheist/ non-religious.

Anyways Jihad means "holy war" this can be understood from a historical context( the war for the conquest of Constantinople, Spain, North Africa, and Persia were all referred to as "Jihad" . I think ricky's response was irrational. But at the sametime, I would believe that on a forum like this we should avoid conflict and conflict starting points. Having a name like "Jihad" is more or less going to get you trouble as there is a strong connotation behind it.
I mean we should all be respectful and all. But idk, I would still say that having a name like "jihad" will get emotional responses.
Just my 2 cents.

I think it would be best if we kept this thread about the question the OP asked and not discuss religious topics here.

OP, do it early. You can always stop but you can't get the time back.

It's not that big of a deal, you can do it early or later. Research is good to have but definitely not crucial. I'd focus more on clinical/hospital stuff rather than research. That is, of course, if you don't want to go to highly ranked research medical schools.
