Residency Deferement

Do lenders no longer offer residency Deferment? My lender (Sallie Mae) only gave me the option of Forbearance...I thought most lenders allowed a 2-year deferment at the start of residency?

The rules changed in 2009 - there's no avoiding payments in residency now.
