Hello everyone! Congratulations on your interview invites!
I applied to PGY2 critical care, one rejection and three acknowledgement emails from programs that they received my application and will be reviewing it soon (one whose deadline has yet to pass, the other two deadlines are this week). I'm pretty surprised at my rejection because the RPD told me she would be telling me interview times on Thursday of last week, but then she went into labor and one of the PGY1 program directors reached out to me a few days later and said my application packet did not qualify for an interview. This made me nervous, so, I reached out to them and asked what I could do to improve it. She said she would contact me this Friday and talk to me about it. It makes me wonder if one of my letters of recommendation may have been too vague. I noticed on some websites, they ask for the letter writers to fill in 75% of the comment fields. I was unaware of this prior to submission, and am hoping that could not tank my application. I just want to talk to them to find out what it specifically was, so that way I will not be utterly disappointed if I do not get any interviews this go around.
Putting this into perspective: I received 12 interview invites last year and one rejection. Could it really just be the fact that there are not that many PGY2 spots? It won't let me post links because I am a new user, but you can look up the program specific statistics by googling "ASHP MATCHING STATS"
Someone created a giant google doc (perhaps a year ago) that had every single program on it and people would input whether or not they received an interview and when. From what I was seeing, last year's interview invites were sent out around mid to end of January. However, some of my friends' co-residents have already received one or two interview invites for PGY2 in critical care.
Here is a screen shot of the residency interview listings from last year. A lady named Katie Anne created it. I wonder if someone else could create it as well.
