Most new schools are not accredited until they graduate their first class. How does that affect those in the first class during the matching process? Obviously you do not need to come from a fully accredited school to participate in the match (otherwise the 1st class would never place ha) , but I was wondering bylaw/regulation allows schools to participate in the match before they are fully accredited.

Generally there are several steps in the final accreditation process. If there is some major reason why the school may be in jeopardy of not getting final accreditation before that first class graduates, believe me there will be major vibes and most programs will know about it. If a candidate is stellar in rotations, boards scores are good and grades are good...the student will be accepted pending what ever flak the school goes thru. that said, I don't know of any new school that got to the point of being allowed to matriculate that first class, that did NOT get final full accreditation. I know of plenty LCME schools that have been accepting students for years that have been put on probation and one that temporarily lost accreditation completely( got it back on appeal though).
