I am in the application process for PhD in Psychology with a specialty in Cognition and Instruction. The program is not approved by APA standards due to no residency portion of the program. The school is regionally accredited, but is online. Is there a way to incorporate a residency from another school or hospital after I complete the requirements? I am trying to figure out the issue before I send my Letter of Intent. Can anyone offer some solid advice on solving the situation? I am completely confused!

Is this it?

if you are looking for a clinical degree don't waste your time with this program. It will be worth as much as used toilet paper.

If you are just looking to take classes for fun and have the money, go ahead.

I agree with the above poster--if you're looking to practice clinically, then the program you're describing isn't going to get you there. A lot of time, energy, and money goes into developing clinical training practica for graduate students, which includes the parent program vetting the experiences and sueprvision offered by the practicum sites. This is something that couldn't/wouldn't be done if obtaining supervision somewhere other than your site (not to mention that clinical training is essentially woven into the entirety of most clinical/counseling/school psych doctoral programs).

Online education is great for certain things and in certain areas. As things stand right now, though, doctoral study in psychology (with the intent to practice) isn't one of those areas.
