hey guys,
how many people earn rdms certification during residency without a fellowship? will i be at a disadvantage when looking for a job without it...what about being/not being an ACLS instructor? thanks

I think the vast minority of attendings are RDMS. More may be ACLS instructors, but again, not the majority. I am going to be the EUS coordinator at my new position, and I am not RDMS. I just like and am proficient at ultrasound.

Hope this helps,
Turtle

I am not aware of anyone who graduates from residency with an RDMS. I know Ohio State University has medical student track that over four years can provide an RDMS in addition to the MD, but it has only graduated one to my knowledge.

I am planning on obtaining an RDMS in fellowship next year. As for ACLS instructing, nearly my entire graduating residency class are ACLS instructors.

my institution has an EM faculty member with his RDMS. he signs off on us after he's certified us in 5 different study types -- AAA, renal, FAST, Gall Bladder, IUP. Once he signs us off, we are eligible to sit for the 2 exams necessary to become RDMS.
