I'm applying Fall 2018 to get in for 2019 at Creighton. I need to prepare for the PCAT and probably take it in Jan 2019 unless I can cram and go in two weeks lol but doubt it. What materials would you recommend? Do the Kaplan ones help because I saw a cheap set on Amazon. Links would be great. Thank you.

If you're applying next cycle then why are you waiting until Jan 2019 to take the PCAT? It would be better to take it earlier rather than later (Jul, Sep, Oct) so that the scores are in with your application, earlier in the cycle.

From personal experience, I used Dr. Collins 2015 PCAT study guide, and I felt like it significantly helped my chemistry and math scores only. Kaplan was good for the biology section. Honestly if you’re short on cash you should borrow the Kaplan from the library! Best of luck!

Oh! A coworker of mine also utilized an online course that prepped her for the exam, but I’m not sure if it was Kaplan or Princeton. Either way she got excellent scores!

How critical are the updates to dr Collins? I’d like to order it but I don’t see the newest addition. Looks like I can get the 2016 at a decent price. Is there much difference ?
And once you’re registered doesn’t pearson offer practice tests?

I used the 2015 version of Dr. Collins for the 2017 PCAT and scored above average on the chemistry and math. However, I may be biased since those 2 are my strongest subjects. Once you sign up for the Pearson PCAT you don’t have access to practice tests, they will only refer you to purchase them.
Overall, I’m not sure if the PCAT format has changed for 2018 so I can’t say for certain if the updated versions of the guide is critical.

I definitely recommend using Dr. Collins if at all possible. Try to link up with someone that may be selling some recent materials here on SDN. I took the PCAT 3 times, my 3rd time I switched everything up and only used Dr. Collins. Made all the difference in the world. Increased my PCAT composite from the 40s to the 80s.

If you're using Dr. Collins, try to purchase it off of someone else. They only thing you need from that is the Chemistry packets. They are super helpful. I would suggest Kaplan for everything else. 🙂
