A Kaplan explanation says that prokaryotes lack mitochondria (obviously) and can only use glycolysis for ATP production. But I swear I have read before that they use the cell membrane for the same function as the inner mitochondrial membrane for the E-transport chain and the H+ gradient.. Can some1 clear this up for me - thanks!
 
Kaplan is wrong, they can definitely use the TCA cycle. The cytoplasm would be like the matrix and the inner membrane is like the bacteria plasma membrane (endosymbiont things)
