Retake Classes After Graduation? Help!

Hi,
I am a 5th year student at UC Davis. I messed up my prerequisite GPA, but I have been getting all As in upper-div science classes for five quarters.My GPA is currently 3.21 and my science GPA is a little bit lower than that I was thinking to retake my prerequisite courses at a Cal State University or a CC taking into account of expenses. My MCAT is 29, and I am planning to retake it during the summer.
I emailed the admission offices of some osteopathic medical schools, and one of the admission counselor told me that the AACOMAS primary application process will use the highest score for any class when calculating gpa only for classes you took PRIOR to graduating. Once you graduate, any credits will show as post-graduate work and will not be calculated into undergraduate GPA!!!!
IS that true for grade replacement policy? I only have a quarter left for undergrad, and I cannot retake the classes at UC Davis unless the grades are D or lower....

Any idea or recommendation is deeply appreciated. Thank you!

if that was true, then I'd be screwed (I went to UCLA). I was told by multiple schools that "post-bacc work for AACOMAS gets blended in with your undergrad coursework so there's no difference". Maybe the rule's specific for the school you emailed. What school was it? (you can PM me if you feel more comfortable)

Thanks for the reply! I emailed Pacific Northwest University's admission office. The counselor said that's how my GPA will be calculated in the primary application. I will call the other schools to make sure how the GPA replacement policy works...

I am fairly sure that is incorrect and will verify with AACOM application director. . First all the grade replacement policy is not for the highest grade but the most recent taking of the class. So if got a B in a class, then took it again hoping to get an A but slacked of and got a C, the C would be the grade calculated.

Second your postbacc work will be show as both a separate line item as well as get integrated into your overall UG GPA.

I googled word for word what you wrote and it appears nowhere. Where did you get this information?

Also, it doesn't matter what undergrad GPA is. All that matters is cumulative GPA, which does include post-bacc work.

You can retake pre-reqs at a community college after you have taken them at a university and the grades you got from the community college retakes will be counted into your GPA over the university pre-reqs taken prior?

If so, this is great news and will save me a lot of money where I can't exactly pay for summer classes at my university.

Yeh I'm retaking a chem class at a jc because I can't afford to pay for the gas/tuition/parking/bull**** that goes with going to the closest 4 yr uni near me.
I emailed the schools I applied to and no one said it would be a problem.

This is COMPLETELY TRUE. I know because I graduated with a lousy GPA, then took all my pre-req's over that I needed higher grades in. The new grades on the pre-req's even after graduation are replaced.

I have a 3.2 GPA now but I still have about 6~8 prerequisite classes to retake, and that would be at least $8000 if I retake them at a 4-year university. For this who repeated classes, would you mind telling me if you guys repeated the classes at a 4-year university or CC? I emailed a few DO schools and the counselors said the retakes at CC are ACCEPTED, and some said that I should not retake too many classes at JC/CC.

Taking those classes at a CC is fine.. I think that there might be some bias given towards someone who takes the classes at a 4-year, but probably not much.. If you can swing the $8000 take them at Davis, otherwise don't stress out about where your taking the classes instead stress about learning the material.

I am in the same exact position with you with your previous low GPA. Did they question it or anything? When I posted a thread with my stats, I just got a lot of hate.

This thread was posted more than 2 years ago... the OP probably is in medical school somewhere.

To answer any concerns though, the retakes are calculated and can replace your undergrad courses. Any of the peeps who replied are more than welcome to confirm this.
