Hello all, looking for a bit of advice.

After working in biotech for a while while in undergrad and post-grad I have begun thinking about pharmacy school. I am missing out on a couple prereqs I would need, and was thinking I would take them at a CC. The classes are orgo II and economics (I actually took 3 quarters of ochem, just not the last optional lab that is required. I went A,B+,A, so I think this CC class would not hurt me in rigor issues). I also have some GPA blemishes from my first two years when I was an engineering major, mainly some C's in gen chem, calc, and phys classes. I was curious if it would be worth retaking these classes to pull the GPA up/replace (how does pharmCAS do this?). I'm wondering if schools would look favorably on retaking the courses even if it is at a CC.

Also, my GPA is 3.34, after my first two years its about 3.7 or so, with As in pretty much all the upper division science classes. Also, planning on getting some experience soon, I've noticed its a pretty good idea...

So, what advice all? thanks

Taking your classes at a CC shouldn't be a problem if you already have your degree. You have already shown that you can handle rigorous coursework. If you decide to do the retakes, pharmCAS will average them. You might do some math and see how much of a difference those retakes will make to your GPA before you retake them. I doubt it will do much if you have a lot of units but you can see how much of an increase it will be if you replace them with As and then decide.

Retake them - It looks like you can handle it, and you need to take a couple pre-requisites anyway. You've really got nothing to lose, the way I see it.

Diastole is right, PharmCAS will average them. But so long as you achieve As in them, it can only go up!
