General Chem I - C
General Chem II - C
Organic Chem I - C+
Organic Chem II- C

Not the greatest grades..I know. My pre-health advisor said it was a mistake for me to go on to General Chem II and Organic II knowing that I made C's in the first class.. and that I have a very low chance of getting in with those scores.

If I do not make it in this year.. and apply next year, should I retake all those classes to raise my gpa? or should I just take more adv biology classes? Any advice?

I wouldnt retake the classes. I would either A) take more bio classes if you havent taken that many, or B) postbacc which is the same thing basically lol

General rule of thumb: Dont retake if your not below a C.

really?? i really want to go with what you're saying. I graduate this semester. So there's no doubt I would have to do post-bacc for a year. But man, my advisor is so discouraging.. I hope you're right! 🙂

SDN should be your advisor.

You could always just take the DAT. If you get a good score on o-chem, then it would prove that you know it, and you wouldn't have to retake it (assuming your GPA isn't suffering).

lol well said.

And my GPA isn't too great, so I was planning doing post-bacc.. just wasn't sure if I wanted to repeat those courses. I've taken the DAT once (and definitely didn't study as much as I should have, so I plan on retaking that as well) and got a 17 for organic, and 18 for general.

I was (am) in the same boat

I got C's in O chem 1 and 2

I just retook O chem 1 this fall as an undergrad and got an A and I am retaking O chem 2 as we speak. I find it to be good review for the DAT too. but now dental schools will see me having 6 credits of a B in O chem 1. I guess thats ok? Maybe I shouldn't have done the retake.

When in doubt, call the schools your intersted in...

"Hello, I'm *****. I'm very interested in your dental school and was hoping to speak with someone about my application.... Hello I'm *****, I want to put together the most competitive application possible for your school... here is my situation, here is what i'm thinking... .... what do you suggest? THANKS"

You get the idea. I think SDN is better than a school advisor but specific DS beat out SDN.

I called the admission committee director of my #1 school and she said, definitely do not retake courses with a C or above. She said take upper level bio and if needed a Masters degree. Hope this helps
