I'm sure this question gets asked a lot but I'm wondering if I should retake the GRE... I received a 156 verbal, 153 quantitative, and here's the kicker... I got a 3.0 on the writing. I wasn't having a very good day when I took the test and I know I wasn't able to do my best. However, I have a lot going on in my personal life right now that would make it difficult to continue studying and retake the test. Will I be able to get into schools with those scores? Or would it be worth it to retake?

For reference I have a ptcas gpa of 3.5 as a biology major. I have 70 hours outpatient ortho, 40 hours SNF, 100 planned hours in acute hospital setting, and I just got a full time job in another outpatient clinic.

Stastically speaking; people who takes the gre again, will score a very similar score to the first time test(within few points +/- ).. Unless they devote a great amount of time & energy to prepare for the re-take.. I took the gre twice specifically to improve my writing score and on the second re-take while I though I did very well, I ended up with the same score on the writing portion!
Now the good news is that ur verbal and math scores are good!
The bad news; many school require 3.5 or higher on the writing part! Since I score 3.00 on the writing, I was really limited on the number of school I was able to apply to.. That being said; so far I got called for 3 interviews so...
That call is yours, however you have to keep in mind that schools don't only look at your gre scores,! gpa, volunteer hours, recommendations, ... Etc also play a great role in your application.

Side note: some school don't require the gre .. So you might want to look at those school as well!

I would just really look into the schools you want to apply/go to. I got similar scores (slightly lower) to yours but a higher writing score. However, my GPA and recommendations were pretty strong. I got 4 interviews and have been accepted into one school. Some schools really don't rely heavily on the GRE, so my recommendation would really to just research the schools you're going to be applying to.

You could also apply to a few schools that do not have the GRE as a requirement to be on the safe side as well.
