Does any one know if anyother university uses "adjusted" GPA in Pharm D admission like Texas Tech Pharmacy.
The reason i'm asking is i had a 2.4 pre-req GPA,and i retook all my sciences and brought it up to a 3.6 if my previous C's were.nt counted.
texas tech told me they don't care about my previous grades AT ALL even if i retook the classes in a jr. college. CAn that be true?

i'll be applying for the first time this year.....so i need also need some out-of-state easy to get in (but decent) private pharmacy schools.Wondering if ya'll can help me out with that.

I wish i had found this website a while back its pretty neat
Thanks in advance for you're help.

I know here at the University of Georgia, they average your grades if you have retaken a course.

what exactly does pre-req gpa mean? I see you need say, 6 sem units of humanities, but say I had taken 9 units with like an A,B,B. Will they count in the higher of the two grades for the pre-req gpa or how does that work?

Again, I can only speak for UGA. The admissions person told me that if you had 3 classes that satisified say a humanities pre-req, then they would take the two best grades.

Pre-requisite GPA means the GPA for the 90+ hrs of classes that you MUST complete to be eligable to apply for the pharmD program.PharmD programs may have diffrent classes as their pre-reqs.
(this exculudes the otherclasses you may have taken to complete you're bachelors degree)

According to the 3 texas Schools i'm planning on applying to...There are two types of GPA's they consider:

1.Science pre-req GPA:This include u're gen chem/bio,phy.O chem Calc,Econ,etc

2.general pre-req GPA:Inculedes Science classes as well as other general classes...Humanities.Pyscology,socio,history,etc.

From What i understand they give 1st prefrence to sci Pr-req GPA.

Anyway,Is there anyone Else who knows about the adjusted GPA admission process that Texas Tech or any other my follow?

here is a link that explains "adjusted pre-req GPA":

And plese let me know if any other schools follows the same procedure in their admission process... 😳

thanks to the people who replied earlier.

I can answer your question. I am currently a P1 at Texas Tech. Texas Tech only counts those classes that you have retaken for a better grade. I had retaken 3 classes myself and their policy is that they will not count that grade that you replaced. My gpa went from a 3.3 to a 3.9 with them. I don't know any other schools out there that have a true forgiveness rule. Our entering class had the highest entering GPA this year...there is some discrepancy between what is posted on the website for our classes GPA and what we were led to believe it was. But just like any other school it has become very competitive to apply for pharmacy school. I'm told Tech won't even look at your application if you have anything less than a 3.1 or 3.0. If you talk to anyone in the admissions office they are very helpful. To be hoenst the average PCAT score that ws posted for our class was very surprising, I thought it was a lot higher. I think we had a few outliers and that might have brought it down to what's posted. B/c most people I've spoken to did well into the upper 80's and well into the 90's.
Anyways...if you have any questions about Texas Tech or any of the other Texas schools feel free to PM me or post your question here. I probably applied to the same 3 you're applying to and I got into 2.
Hope this helps.

i'll PM you about the Q's i have ....THANKS a mill ! oh yeah an the info definately helped!
