Hey pre-pods! I haven't been on this site in a long time, but here's a Cliff Notes version of my story:

* I was accepted to Barry in 2007 (3.7 overall, 4.0 science, and 17 DAT), but did not attend due to a divorce
* I pursued various careers afterwards, including law enforcement and software development
* I plan on reapplying to podiatry schools for this cycle

I spent some time browsing the forum to catch up on what's been going in the world of podiatry since I left, and have come to realize the following:

1) The DAT/GRE is being phased out.
2) The MCAT range for accepted students is 18-22.
3) The GPA range for accepted students is 2.9-3.3

Is this correct? If not, please provide me with accurate information. Also, what is the best MCAT prep with online, digital tests?

Thanks.

Dat/Gre officially still accepted at some schools but def. being phased out. They are trying to unify the standards across the board for all schools. Something to do with that whole parity thing.

Check out the MCAT section and follow SN2ed's study guide. He recommends doing the official AAMC practice exams, but ONLY after you have completed ALL of the content review.

I used his study guide and got 10's for the sections.

Second this. Very comprehensive study guide.

Thanks guys! Anyone have any WD40 to ease up my rust? LOL.

WD40 was not strong enough for me, I used a crowbar 😀 Now, my pre-reqs were waaaaay old, so before I started the program, I watched all of Chad's videos first. His program is called Course Saver.

Chad is a now dental student who taught a prep class for many years to students prepping for the DAT and MCAT. It's different from say, Kaplan, because he actually re-teaches the concepts and content used for Chem and Physics. They are very well done and you can download his study guides as well. I would allow 2 months to go through the videos, if you have the time and then do the 3 month study plan. Or, you could do the 4 month study plan and use his videos as a supplement. He has conveniently divided the content up into manageable segments. You may not need the videos, but they helped me tremendously since it had been so long since I had seen the content.

Good Luck! :luck::xf:

Thanks for the insight (and sorry for the late reply, I'm busy completing my Master's). I am getting EK to study for the MCAT this summer, and will be applying for Fall 2013. I'll keep you all posted.

Good luck!!

However, quick question for you, I know some dental and med schools want your pre-reqs within a certain time frame... If you graduated in 07 and took intro bio freshman year in 03, thy might not be valid anymore after ten years... In not sure how pod schools approach this, but it might be something to check out to be on the safe side.....

Chad is a stoner whose Biochem videos were sadly lax!
