So what are your techniques in reviewing for Biochem?
Just continuous memorization, reading?
What techniques did you utilize to pass the course?
Any of you guys take time to read into it prior to starting MS-1?

Biochem. obviously has alot of pathways etc. to understand, glycogen storage disorders etc to memorise and so I think it requires a couple of different approches to master. Incidentally, I found the best way to solidify my knowledge of the subject matter was by teaching it. I tutored it for two semesters at Ross. Of course thats of no help to you when you have not taken the course yet so...
1. Get a good book such as Lippinncotts Biochem: In so far as possible try and understand what you are reading. Be able to explain to your gym buddy whos not in medicine what happens to carbohydrate and protein metabolism once you start ingesting alcohol. You want to have that level of comfort whereby you are not merely reaching for a mental enzymatic diagrammatic.
2. With that said some things just need to be memorised: krebs cycle, Rate limiting steps in key metabolic rxns, enzymes certain drugs (statins etc.) interfere with: For this kind of info mnemonics, charts, and note cards work well. There should be a ton of the common biochem. mnemonics floating around at your school.
3. Attend tutorials/ study sessions if necessary
4. Brush up on your ability to interpret graphs...hemoglobin dissociation curve, enzyme kinetics etc.
5. Grin and bear it....😀 and good luck.
