The test has changed so i was wondering what study materials you guys have used/suggest

I am looking at the Mcgraw-Hill GRE test prep book for 2011 - 2012 as well as the Kaplan gre preperation book for 2011-2012. The Mcgraw one has 8 practice tests in total while the Kaplan has 6. Not sure of the quality though so hopefully someone can chime in.

thanks

also with the new scoring system , schools will have a new average. I am applying for the 2012-2013 cycle , when do you think schools will have the gre minimum score set , or what do you think it will be?

I was not impressed by the McGraw-Hill workbooks. I didn't find their questions to be appropriate for the GRE.

I also do not recommend Princeton Review, because their guides are consistent chock-full of errors. I would recommend the following:

1. The Official Guide to the GRE revised General Test

2. New GRE Verbal Workbook (Kaplan GRE Verbal Workbook)

3. New GRE Math Workbook (Kaplan GRE Math Workbook)

4. New GRE 2011-2012 Premier with CD-ROM (Kaplan GRE Exam Premier Live)

Thanks for the quick reply

I am going with the Kaplan Premier book. Did you use all of those listed or do you think I will be fine with just the premier book?

I personally bought the Kaplan Verbal Workbook and the Kaplan Math Workbook. I also did the free Kaplan stuff on their website.
What I took from the book was their strategies in solving questions, both ones you know the answer to and the ones you don't. There's a lot of advice on simply how to approach problems/the essay in general (which I found helpful), in addition to many individual practice problems.
The individual practice problems, I found, were harder than the actual problems on the test.
All in all I found it very helpful. I don't have experience with the other brands though.

Nismo the main reason the revised scores for tests taken in AUG, sept and oct were held till Nov is so they had a pool of testers so they could do the computing for the average. Apparently each cycle sets a new average. Those taking the test in Nov. and later will have their scores per the normal schedule of 10-15 days. Not sure if scores means are adjusted during the cycle or not.

Just noticed the new scores are posted...Weird, my percentile score from my test in May changed, I'm guessing it gets adjusted. Anyone know?

Yes, I used all of those, but spent the majority of my time with the ETS official book and the math/verbal workbooks.
