Ride for Rehab 2007
The Ride for Rehab 2007 is a major public awareness and fundraising campaign the Foundation launched at the AAPM&R 66th Annual Assembly in Hawaii. The Foundation is working cooperatively with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago to promote the event; all funds raised by the Foundation will be used for outcomes research. An avid cyclist, Academy President and RIC Director of the Spine and Sports Institute Dr. Joel Press will embark on a 3,700 mile cross-country bike ride the Ride for Rehab - from San Francisco to Norfolk, VA on June 12, 2007. For 10 weeks, Dr. Press will cycle across the U.S. participating in local events, fundraisers and visiting rehabilitation centers. In addition, Dr. Press will play a major role in a national media outreach campaign, participating in print and broadcast interviews to raise awareness of the critical role physiatry and rehabilitation plays in restoring function and improving quality of life for patients.
