Risk of acceptance rescind

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I called!

Op: what the system shows is accurate. I don't hold any acceptances as for now.

Ad officer: oh no problem. It could be an alternate list.

Op: I just wanted to clarify any misrepresentation on my part

As officer: no worries at all. Thanks for call.

Way to go! Just be a bit more careful next time, haha

for what reasons would adcoms rescind an acceptance??

God with the amount of white lies I tell - I should probably not be a doctor either..........

Sorry OP you had to go through this - it's super hard when you are pressured by all smart people around you to want to measure up... Or around people who all got rejected and you don't want to hurt their feelings...

LOL this whole thread, and the OP's worry about this, reminds me of a lie I told in first grade. After class, I told my teachers that I scuba-dived to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean and fought with sharks. I lived in Chicago. Then, I went home and cried to my mom about how my teachers would know I was a lying sack of ****. I couldn't sleep the whole night.

Did my teachers know I was in fact a lying sack of ****? Of course. As soon as this staff member looked up your lack of other acceptances, I'm sure he/she knew you were, too. Did my teachers or your staff member care? Did they lose sleep over this? Was it ever going to come up again? Nope, nope and nope.

Disclaimer: normally I'm incredibly anti-lying in just about any situation, even white lies. But, peer pressure happens. As long as you don't make it habit (which I'm sure you won't after all this worrying), not a big deal. You didn't gain anything from it and no one lost anything from it.
