Has anyone received a letter from Rochester saying, " you are ranked very high on our Waiting List and stand a good chance of receiving an offer of acceptance..."?

Have any of you been accepted after receiving this letter? Do you think they are genuine or just trying to string me further along in this agonizing process? It's my #1! Any comments would be greatly appreciated

People withdraw from schools all the time. They usually take people off of their waitlist. I have a friend that just withdrew from U of R.

Did your letter actually say that or are you asking if it exists? I got waitlisted but there is no mention of ranking. Are there different waitlists? Does anyone know the number of how many are accepted vs. matriculants? Thanks!

Yeah mine just says "you are waitlisted - people won't come off the waitlist until March". I never sent a letter back saying I wanted to stay on the waitlist (got my letter in Nov), think I still can?

Applied Interviewed Accepted Enrolled
Total: 3,496 679 272 100
In-state: 890 205 82 33
Out-of-state: 2,606 474 190 67

That's what my letter said. I'm assuming they send different letters according to your rank on the waitlist. I've heard that they have a decent amount of movement because not everyone is thrilled to live in Rochester.

I just sent them an email, but I don't think it will be too late as they are not even going to the list until march. Thanks for the info!

I would definitely send them a letter if you are interested. I emailed them my letter and they replied within an hour saying they would place it in my file and keep me updated. They told me not to bother sending them my updated transcripts, but to give them all of my information (emails, phone numbers....), and if anything interesting happened over the semester that may help my chances.

You'll hear of your acceptance, waitlist, or rejection within eight weeks. They call you if you're accepted, or else you'll hear via snail mail.

Bump, any waitlist movement?

any movement?

i was thinking about writing another letter, i already sent in two, but this time I'll write them the letter of intent.

i actually spoke with their office and they said at this point all they are looking for is updates and they review everyone as spots open up. i was told there is no ranking.

you guys think just doing research for the year off is too complacent to get off the wait list? i'm having doubts these letters make a difference unless i just found the cure for cancer (chuck norris's tears).
