I am more of a social person and have lived with other people all four years of undergrad. since I'm entering medical school this fall I probably have never met any of these kids in my life, but still would like a roommate. How do first year medical students usually go about finding "chill" roomates.

Visit the pothead section of the Classifieds. In all seriousness, you could probably look at the admitted students Facebook page because people will be soliciting roommates there. Probably not at this point yet but they eventually will. Then you can Facebook stalk them to see if they're "chill."

There's a good chance I'm one of the most extroverted people on this planet. However, being able to live alone for the first time in my life was an opportunity I thought was worth gambling on. I couldn't be any happier for doing so. Get a roommate second year if you want to. That's what I'm doing, but I've enjoyed living alone.

I'm generally very extroverted as well and have only lived on my own during a few summers throughout UG (absolutely loved it). I'm curious though, do you find it challenging to connect with classmates during M1? I mean like forming study groups and studying for exams and all that? I know it seems like a solid amount of any class just always stays at home but I wonder if living by yourself limits the amount of opportunity you have to really meet everybody in your class?

Not at all challenging. My class is really close, and very small (~100). We regularly have cookouts and bar nights, and I have a group of about 6 or 7 that regularly gets together to study. My school's undergrad campus forms the lion's share of our class, and even being among the very few that didn't know a soul on the first day, I feel like I've meshed very well.
