I'm fairly sure many of the 'well established' 'top notch' schools such as UIC COP and UTexas were around before the ACPE was established.

So it's safe to say those schools, and other established schools like them, probably helped make the accreditation process/standards?

Hi, I am new to the SDN but have visited Roosevelt twice so far to find out more about their program. They seem very confident about getting their candidate status and accreditation. When I spoke with the admission guy he told me that 7 schools applied for pre-candidate status and ACPE granted pre-can status to 3. Roosevelt , Rosiland Franklin and another. When I met with him at an open house they had already scheduled their next ACPE site visit and the HLC had just finished a visit in march. They seem very confident, especially considering their Dean has opened 3 other schools and various members of the faculty and staff have worked with ACPE and HLC in the past. I think the incoming and future students can be very confident that this school will receive the accreditation from ACPE. They told me if something really bad did happen and that they didn;t get it that they would work with students to get them into other programs as quickly as possible. Remeber to that students still get to sit for their boards and have the same rights as any student from an accreditated school.

UIC COP was established in 1859. It wasn't accredited until the 1930s and it was the first school to be accredited by the ACPE.

They were lying to you because there were 5 that were granted pre-candidate status:
http://www.acpe-accredit.org/pdf/AnnualReport.pdf

probably he said 3 because at the time it was only 3. I checked the pdf and yes 7 new schools applied 3 were granted essentially instant, 4 were denied authorization. ,but of those 4, 2 gained pre canidate later. So when he said only 3, technically on the first try he was correct.

Looks like you don't read very closely. On your link you should scroll down to page 9 or 10. Looks like 7 pre candidate applied and 3 approved.
I also investigated with RU today... they have their candidate site visit scheduled for April 2012 and that they would hear about candidate status mid 2012... seem s confident to me,

Doctor of Pharmacy Program: precandidate status was granted. (2009-2010; 2010-2011)

Look at page 10 after that...looks like you don't read very carefully. Not a good trait for a pharamacist.
Roosevelt, Rosalind Franklin, St. Joseph, PCOM, and WNEC were all granted precandidate status.

Every school is confident they will get status, otherwise they wouldn't waste the time to try to open. Just because they can open, doesn't mean they should. This school is a joke in the eyes of the profession...have fun trying to get a job...

Now that we all had our moment, let's get back to posting something else. Who cares about pre candidate stauses for now. =)

Hey everyone. I just gave up my seat at Roosevelt. So one of you should be getting the call or email very soon! Good luck.

hey guys..
any of you apply for financial aid yet? i know they told me that the financial aid for the fall/spring/winter terms wasnt finalized yet but they told me to fill out the summer loan application. we have to write how much we want to borrow for it....but how much does just the summer cost? any ideas?
thanks!

So, I haven't been around for a while but have the classes started already at Roosevelt? I feel the Campus is still empty relative for a new pharmacy school at least from the empty look of the pharmacy offices by the library.

EDIT: Never mind, it is only May. I guess I will find out in June.

No they don't start classes until July. Plus the instructors are all moving up to their new space... or some of them are or something.

any updates on the number of applicants they have accepted? and have accepted to attend? they are only accepting 68, correct?

They have already filled their 68. Only waitlisting as of now.

Also they already started constuction phase 2 (P2 students) and putting final touches on phase 1.

If they are interviewing they still have seats available.... 👍 perhaps not many, but they do. This school is going to be a great school but it is their first year so there will be some bumps on the way. If you get an interview, do a good job in the interview then they will email you a week later with an acceptance! Go for it!!! 🙂

Wow! Didn't think interviews were still ongoing. Seats were full couple weeks ago. Some people may have given up there seats. But good luck during the interview, who knows, you might get accepted, even though the chances right now are kinda slim 🙂

chances were slim enough for me to get in! thanks for the goodluck. see you soon!!! 🙂

So, the orientation would be two days or would it be done in two groups? I saw the signs around schaumburg campus that orientation is next week.

Ha and I was getting pleasantly used to the empty campus... 😳

Any students who got in could may be help me on here?! I have a low GPA average and I'll be retaking classes to improve my GPA. I wanted to know how do they look at retakes? do they even consider retaking a class as an okay option or not? I just wanted to know anything and everything that anyone has to share about this school? interview? ps? I greatly appreciate yall help! thanks in advance 🙂

I am considering Roosevelt University's College of Pharmacy. Can you please tell me about your experience there? How are the classes, the professors, your practical experiences... Is there anything you do not like about the program. I was also accepted to Midwestern, but prefer Roosevelt because it is shorter and closer to home - any advice or additional info would be appreciated. Thank You!
