Thanks man. I'm still working things out - I'll continue to do so until I have to actually make a decision. BMS seems like a good opportunity, so I'm gonna think about it really hard. If anyone has any amazing incites, lemme know!

BTW, this thread is awesome. I wonder how many other threads have to keep on making extensions because of the magnitude of posts....

Hey everybody! I just logged on to SDN and started following this thread a few days ago. I am accepted at RFU for 2011 and wanted to join the fun on the forum.

I am signed up for the student apartments on campus, anyone else? I heard they are fairly new and nice. I'm rooming blind for a double. I figured I would be spending a lot of time studying there and could use some company (plus it is much more affordable!)

I am thinking about back up to RFU soon to check out the campus again since I don't remember much from October... the schools/interviews all seem to have run together! I'm pretty into fitness/athletics, does anyone remember what their facility looked like?

I hope to get to know all of you over the summer and have a great M1!

B) I just got the BMS email today saying that I got in. It's no medical school, but it could be another egg in my basket per se. PLEASE, could people help me figure out if I should accept this. You guys are like family and it would be helpful to hear your opinions.

Also, do I need to send in a deposit for BMS either way????

GRATS!!! Man, this is a great opportunity for you. Spend the year soley studying and you should be good to go!!!! We will be SMP buddies, even though I will be in Ohio...regardless, I say go for it man!

Hopefully we an just be M1s next year, come on RFU!

As far as SMP cost is concerned, it is a masters degree in one year (BMS is a one year program, right?). You can think of it as a discount. I will be going to either Tufts MBS program or BU's MAMS. That's how I'd like to justify it.

Heston, I was accepted to the BMS program and sent in my 100 bucks for the deposite and I still got accepted to the MD program. So I threw away 100 bucks but totally worth it. Befor my MD acceptance I was totaly for the BMS program. The director of the BMS said that this year around 50% got in from the BMS to MD.

are you a guy? if you are, theres probably a decent chance we're roommates in the student dorms since im not sure they do co-ed. the workout facility was decent. enough free weights and machines to get the job done. nice outdoor bball courts too.

I guess I should have introduced myself a little better... most people see my screen name and assume I'm a guy.. I'm 24, female, orginally from Ohio (2005 Buckeye alum). I moved up to Chicago last year and am excited to get back to school this fall!

So they have separate buildings for male/female dorms? I guess most people go into the dorms either as a single or knowing someone else, but I think I'll be safe with whoever I end up with. At least everyone on here seems nice 🙂

I agree. But I can apply now with BU while Tufts requires you wait a year after the SMP year. They won't write your committee letter until they have a whole year's worth of grades. I'm impatient and want to apply now! Not sure what to do....

Instead of sending in another LOI, (what else could you have to say?) I'd recommend sending in an update of your recent activities if you have been doing anything new related to medical school. This could be taking a class, shadowing,new volunteer work, or solving all the world's problems with a slight tax increase.

Have you guys been writing letters of intent by hand? I just sent an email to the admissions committee expressing my desire to attend RFU but it definitely seems more personal to send in a letter.

All these letters of intent. Should I write one? Then is one enough? How about two, or three? Should I email it, or send it by certified mail? How many people do I send it to? Who do I send it to?
All these questions, unfortunately, have no answer. I feel the best way to answer any of these questions is to simply say, do what makes you feel the most comfortable, and what you think is appropriate. Some people may think sending 3 letters in is heinous, others may wish they had something to say in order to write 3 letters, others may think its very beneficial.
I'm not trying to put anyone down, I guess it was just my rant for the day. Haven't had one of those for a while 🙂 It just gets really restless just waiting around to hear back from schools. As always, good luck to all.

I'm gonna fill out my FAFSA today, but I don't know what's gonna happen.

I was told that you shouldn't have too much of a problem getting financial aid if you file after the deadline, although the financial aid office might not be too happy with you.
