Rosalind Franklin ADCOM (the Best Rockin Thread on SDN)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just got the rejection letter. The gist is that the class is full and they cannot offer me a spot. This may be because I was low on the unranked wiatlist or because they are done with admissions.

Best of luck to the rest of you!

I'm going to go to Toastmasters and prepare for next year.

I also got the rejection letter, I guess I'm off to Wayne State. Not a big deal.

Hmmm, are they just sending out rejection letters now? I thought the waitlist wasn't ranked? If we believe that, then the class must be full and they're getting rid of their waitlist.

However, I have yet to get that letter. Here's hoping!!!

It seems like they sent rejection letters to some OOS people. They said their waitlist wasn't ranked but I have a feeling it was actually ranked. They just didn't want people to call the admissions office constantly.

I hope I can find out what went wrong. DVN, what did they tell you in the past?

I just talked to the admissions person and she said that my application was strong overall. Just goes to show you how much of a crap shoot this whole process is.

Onward to next year!

I have been out of town all last week and am still out of town. so i don't know if I've been rejected or not.

after she said that...did you ask her why you didn't get in?

She said that my interview was alright, but not outstanding. Also she said that there were 10k apps/ 700 interviews.

Hello all,
Ive peeped this site before. I had been living my past few months geared towards re-ap, but this morning I got in. I think I found a 2 bedroom at Woodlands. Looking for a roommate. I could either use some tips to finding one...or a roommate. I live in Vegas, Im filling out FA paperwork, etc. Help me get set up and out there for some pre-semester partying. Ha!

Wizard-
first of all, congrats on the acceptance, glad to see you'll be joining us! I only have a few suggestions to get you started looking for a roommate, but they may help. On the student housing page, there is a message board you might check * http://66.99.255.20/housing/ *
Also, check out the SDN thread for the CMS accepted class of 2011, I know I have seen postings from time to time there too... http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=383648&page=4

Good luck and hope to see you in the upcoming weeks!

Sorry to hear the news man. They always tell me something generic, you are a competitive applicant but this year has been extremely competitive. Basically, I am not good enough.

Grats man!

I wonder what the hell is wrong with the rest of us?

Hey guys! Just got a phone call from SGU today telling me I got accepted!

I'm excited, I really am, but at the same time, there's this little demon inside of me complaining about it being a out of country school. I would love some of your opinions guys, seriously I would. I want to know what you think of St. George's University or about going to a medical outside of the US in general. I've learned to trust you guys and value your opinion.

Thanks!

I don't think there is anything wrong with us. Last week I found out this guy I went to college with got into RFU. There was NO WAY that he deserved to get in over anyone on this thread unless he had a drastic turnaround in his year off which is unlikely. Sometimes I wonder if they just draw people's names out of a hat and accept that person.

Congrats on SGU!!! I think it depends on what you want. If you don't go to SGU your gonna have to take atleast a year off and improve your application in someway. I think SGU is a good school, as long as you work hard and do well there you will be fine.

imo being a foreign grad only matters for one single reason; residency. you will hear stories of people w/ a 99% usmle score getting the best residency and getting a shi##ty one. i think its like med school, more than just the board scores matter. they are very imp aka mcat, but not the sole determining factor.
if you are anxious to get started and dont want to sit around for another year, then by all means do it. if you dont mind re-taking the mcat applying again and finances as well as time are not of a primary concern to you; then sit it out one more cycle. i simply applied once, got into a do school, and am more than happily attending there. i would say ask these 2 questions to yourself

1. am i willing to go there?
2. will i be happy there?

answer yes and i'd say you're close to an answer. good luck buddy.

also, sgu is the best foreign med school there is. so congratulate yourself on that. and don't forget that, you have one leg up on all other carrib students.

RFU Faithful

I moved into my new apt today. And i'll be there 'permanently' starting Sun. I just want to wish everyone the best of luck. good luck to all the faithful.
And don't forget one thing, you are faithful. to the fact that you want to be a physician. with persistance and hard work, there is no doubt each and everyone of us will live out our dream.

this is just to get my 400th post 🙂

I found a roommate.

Good luck to others looking for a place to stay.

Hi guys,

For those who are traveling to RFUMS, can you please let me know how you are planning to get to the school from the airport? I'll be flying in on the 7th of August and I am not sure how to get there. If anyone is taking a cab, do you have any idea how much it will cost?

Thank you in advance!

Hey guys,
I got an acceptance call this morning. I was getting ready to head to Philadelphia tomorrow to start the Drexel IMS program- that just shows you how quickly things can change. This has been a long, long journey and all I can think is that I am very lucky.
To everyone still waiting for an acceptance: Good luck and keep faith. We all are the type of people that will be great doctors. Good luck wherever life brings you! :luck:

When does RFU start? Does anyone know if in past they have had people not show up during the orientation week?

Guju,
RFU's orientation is from Aug. 8-10. Classes start on the 13th. From what I've heard, you can still get a call during the first week of classes for a spot. If that happens to anyone on here and you're scrambling to try to find all the info you need, PM me. I think that there is still time for more spots to open and to be given out. Let's hope more get taken from this thread! :luck:

congrats to all that got in!

DVN n Dr Nick, i believe i am in the same boat and just havent received a letter yet.

just declined BMS at RFU since it was too much money. still havent heard back from rfu/uic. oh well, started the app process again. got some secondaries in too.

gotta keep the wheels turning, right? 🙁

on a sidenote....

Heston, remember when we calculated the # of apps and interviews for RFU, i think we were pretty darn close... i think.

700/10,000 seems to be the "official" word from RFU.

dont quote me on the 700/10,000. i just saw the # flyin around in this thread or some other one. i should call and actually find out but really...

Did they let you know that number in a letter or something?

So.....is the waitlist moving at all now?

one person got in few days ago (gnome). stilll a possibility that someone might get the call but it is getting very close to their orientation time now.

Has anyone received the rejection letter from RFU yet because I haven't received it yet? I know that classes started on Monday but I just wanted some closure.

I got the letter a week or two ago. It said the class is full. I'm over RFU and working on secondaries for this cycle.
