I know that there's another thread comparing the two from a couple of years back, but I just wanted to see what people think about this decision currently. It looks like RF's program has a better shot of getting people into just CMS in the year immediately following the program, whereas Georgetown affords a wider range of options for the following year. I think that I would prefer the opportunity to skip another gap year if possible, but I wanted to hear input. Thank you!

do you have a preference on which med school you'd like to go to? If you don't, I'd say BMS since it provides the best shot at getting into "a" medical school the same year.

Depends on your stats/state. If you can get into your state school and pay instate tuition the gap year is worth it. It also depends on what your stats are, if you have low stats go RFU for sure, if you have really high stats Georgetown will probably give you better options. Depends where you are on the spectrum, and what you value.

I'm in the same situation and really torn too. Just paid the deposit for Georgetown a few days ago as well, not yet for RFU. I'm a non-URM CA resident and stats are 3.0/35 (11P, 12V, 12B). I'd appreciate any input. Thank you.

I know people who have done rfums and someone who did Georgetown smp. I would like to point out a fact I am sure you're aware of that only 15% of SMP students get into Georgetown and only 50% get in to ANY medical school that same year. I don't know how that 50% compares to a lot of other smps but seems like (per forums citing 70 students per 120) RFUMS has a better percentage for students getting into med school to matriculate immediately after they finish the SMP (no gap year).

Depends on if you're ok not going to med school right after your SMP.

Congrats on acceptances to both though!! :)

Hmm well looks like 70/120 isn't that much better so I guess I can take that back.... Maybe im just saying this because the person I knew who did Georgetown SMP didn't get in to med school right away despite doing well in the program. Who knows. Best of luck with your decision.

why wouldn't you hesitate if your mcat was higher? i'm in the same boat, leaning towards the rfu program simply because of greater assurance towards the md acceptance- i have a 3.6cpga,3.5sgpa, 32 mcat
