Hi All!

The search function is stopped by administrators and I have to resort to asking you this question: what are the rotation sites/locations for COMP? I am from Michigan and will be attending COMP. If rotation sites are far away from campus, maybe it is not a good idea to live close to campus....?

Thank you very much.

To get a general idea where the block rotation sites are in relation to Pomona, go to mapquest or something similar and look for the following cities.

Downey (Downey Reg. Med. Ctr.)
Colton (Arrowhead Reg. Med. Ctr.)
Montclair (Doctor's Hospital)
Chino (Chino Valley RMC)
Santa Ana (Western Medical Center, Santa Ana)
Long Beach (Pacific Hospital)

I think there is also a block in Oregon at Eastmoreland Hospital.

Most students live near campus (DON'T live in POMONA) for the classroom years and then kinda decide if they want to be in LA county or San Bernardino county for the clinical years. Some students opt to stay with friends and don't ever have an apartment in the clinical years. They are almost like gypsies and go to hospitals that provide housing and live free or cheap. Most hospitals in CA do not have housing, but out here in MI there are plenty that do.

It comes down to where your block might be and where you want to be for residency. Your electives can be done at most large hospitals nationwide, or just around the So. Cal region.

Hey folks,
Ophthobean hit on some of the main sites that are nearby. I'd say there are hospital rotations that can be as close as 10 minutes from school to about 1.5-2 hours if you live around school and commute to a hospital close to the coast (the time is a huge just because of traffic. If you drive at non-traffic hours, you could cut it down to 45 min-1 hr). I believe we had the option of doing out of state blocks that were in Oregon, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada (Las Vegas), San Diego, and Florida. We were also looking into doing blocks in places like NJ, NY, and northern California but either due to lack of interest or problems finding hospitals that would take 3rd year students, those didn't pan out this year. Towards the latter half of the third year, one can start doing electives which means basically going anywhere in the country. Fourth year you also have the opportunity to do a research or an international rotation too.

As far as hospitals in Michigan (In case you're interested in doing a few back home), our Michigan block of rotations is at Botsford General in Farmington Hills for 6 months or a year I believe. Other hospitals include Henry Ford, Genesys Regional MC, Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, etc.. (that's just a few.. there's a big list here and unfortunately I'm not familiar with the area). Anyway, that's just FYI... sorry for the rambling.
