This may be a dumb question but here it goes.

I'm interested in dermatology and I was wondering if there is such a thing as dermatology rotations. If so, should I refrain from a school that doesn't offer dermatology rotations such as umdnj? If not, how do you get experience in that field so that you know that you are interested when you apply for residency/internships?

Elective rotations, you would use your elective rotations as derm rotations

so if a school doesn't have my desired specialty rotations, i should sway from that school, right? (i'm referring to umdnj, or correct me if they do have it.)

You will probably do your elective rotations at a school other than your own. For example, I will be attending school in Atlanta, and I intend to do at least one rotation at an Emory facility.

Ditto to tt, you can do your elective rotations pretty much anywhere. That is one of the the advantages of DO vs MD schools (so I've heard so no yelling at me for saying this) they are fairly lenient as to letting you do your rotations where you want to. So say you want to do derm UC San Diego has one of the best Derm programs in the country so you could try to do a rotation with them. You also need to think of your rotations as 'pre- residency interviews' so you would try to do your rotations at places you might want to go to residency

does this make sense?

one more question: i do know that placing in derm residency is very competitive but what about for electives rotation? does the same apply?
