I was wondering if any of you other DOs out there have successfully set up visiting 4th year rotations at Georgetown, George Washington, Johns Hopkins, and Univ of MD. I think the first 3 will be OK based on their websites, but the administrative assistant in the Office of Student Affairs at UMSOM told me they don't take visiting DO students for rotations! I am interested in ER and FP, and I noticed, however, that the chief resident, asst residency director, and director of one of the combined EM programs are all DOs! So, the chief resident probably did a rotation there as a visiting student, right? Any helpful hints you have would be much appreciated! (I am a 3rd year at TUNCOM from VA looking to return there for residency)

Well I know John's Hopkins will let your rotate there...but you have to pay $250 to rotate and then another $450 if you want to use their housing.

Sometimes the schools have community programs that arent at University hospital yet still part of the of their system. Usually you can rotate there. They also hold letters of recommendations from those programs in high regard.

Hint: instead of speculating, why don't you just call or e-mail the chief, assistant director, or director instead of being deterred by a secretary.
