I’ve always heard you should pick MD acceptance over DO acceptances. I am an avg applicant with GPA of 3.7 and MCAT score of 509 and a ton of clinical and research hours (to give a general idea). I love what I read about Rowan’s curriculum (I would be oos btw) and it’s my top choice DO school. So when I found out they have ED I am so tempted to apply. But that means I wont be able to apply to any other school until Oct. I plan on applying to 20 MD schools. Should I throw away my chances of getting into an MD school (because I feel it’s pretty slim) in order to get into my top choice DO school? Or should I take the risk and apply to them all early in the cycle? I am so nervous because I feel I may not get into MD schools and then I might lose my chance to get into Rowan as well. Help!

As someone with your exact stats, I would say apply both MD and DO. Especially if your state has multiple public schools. I was set to go to a private DO school, then got off the waitlist for my in-state MD.

My state school has a few public MDs so this is reassuring!
