Hey, I just got my Rush interview invitation today. I've been told that they like to ask lots of ethical questions? Is this true?

I submitted in August, but they sent me a confirmation email on 9/13, and I got the interview invite today.
 
Any other Rush interviewees wanna share their experience at Rush? =P
 
did anyone get interview invites from Rush last week? it seemed like there were a ton of people getting invites, and then it just stopped. i submited my application in august, but didn't get the completion e-mail till september, and am still waiting for an invite. anyone have any input??
 
I got my invite 10/26. Some other SDNers did, too.

Have you heard anything since last weds?

Let me know... I have to pick alternative dates from the 3 I picked last week.... 🙁

They just assigned me a date...I didn't get any of my choices

Same for me. I picked all November dates. They emailed today and said I had to pick alternates. All the choices left are January on. I'd rather they had just assigned me a December date, but I guess I'm looking at 2006. Darn. 🙁
 
help?! i need to change my first choice date because it happens to be on a final date i have. does anyone have the adcom phone number? i've emailed and am still awaiting a reply. thanks so much in advance!
 
I already picked another set of possible interview dates, but when I log in to the status page interview dates, it doesn't show that I picked any. I got the auto-reply email from infostatz, though. Anyone else's interview dates screen not change despite already having chosen dates you wanted?

I requested my interview dates last week 10/25, and waited a week not having heard anything from them. So I emailed them on Tuesday to ask the status and they replied right away giving me my second choice, which was unfortunately in December not the one I could go to in November. But if you've been waiting a while email them to ask. I just wish I didn't have to wait over a month to get there.
 
I recently had an interview there. They are really organized and have escorts who 'deliver' you to and from your interview, very helpful when you are stressed out. Good luck you guys!

Oh yeah, if you are not staying at a student's place, and are going to stay at the Marriott, book it early, the special rate is only for a limited number of rooms. They are a very short distance away from school, and although they provide you with a shuttle, you could very well walk to and from your interview.
 
Anyone interviewing at Rush next week or have additional advice about Rush that is not found on the interview feedback site? There aren't very many interview reviews from this year's application cycle.
 
I interviewed there 11/2 (and am eagerly awaiting my decision!) I really enjoyed it - you really get the impression, more so than at other schools, that the faculty, administrators and students all really enjoy working there. You have two interviews, one open file and one closed file, and they are with different people on the AdCom - sometimes students, sometimes deans, sometimes physicians. I had a student and a physician, both women (pretty rare), both really nice. Its all very low stress, and you have time to sit and chill with the other applicants. I enjoyed the day overall, and wouldn't stress out about it too much. You'll be just fine. Good luck!
 
I interviewed at Rush in early November and loved the school. I recently heard the good news and I am very excited about the possibly attending the school. The interviews were all very low stress although about half of the people mentioned that they were asked questions like, "tell me about an ethical dilemma doctors may encounter...what do you think about patient autonomy...how do you get cancer (tell me what goes wrong biologically)?" overall, we all found the experience a great one. While 2 interviewees seemed pretty stressed by these questions, others said they were no big deal. I do not think they are looking for a specific answer, just a good thought process.

There are 2 interviews one open file one closed. They tell you in advance that the interviews will only run 25-35 minutes (but many people had the interviews run over). The tour and lunch is conducted by med students. Overall, it's no big deal. Just express your interest in the school and your desire to be a clinician (focus on clinical care not research). Good luck.

This is only partially related - but for those who have been accepted, I interviewed 11/2 and haven't heard anything in the mail. Do you think I should call and see if my decision has been mailed? I'm just worried that something may have gotten lost. Of course, no response is better than a rejection...I just want to hear already!

i think mine ended around 2-3 PM
 
I think i interviewed either Nov. 1st or 2nd and I found out a week ago. They told us we were to find out before Thanksgiving so if you have not heard yet, I would call and ask. They did not mind when I called and asked.

Is anyone else interviewing on Wednesday at Rush? I'm kinda nervous about it. They don't give out very many out of state acceptances for a public school.

I will be there on wednesday. I know they dont give out too many out of state acceptances but then again they only interview a few out of staters to begin with. Good luck and I'll see you there.

i will also be there on wednesday...its my 1st interview, so i am also nervous!

btw, i hope you guys from out-of-state are bringin ur winter coats!!! cuz its cold as sh** 😱
 
one other thing...i accidentally deleted my responses to the rush secondary. does anyone know how to access these? or could someone post the questions at least to help me jog my memory? thanks...
should i start my interview with, "hi, im so stupid i erased my copy of my responses to the secondary. so could i reread and then we'll proceed?"
 
Sure no problem. Log into the rush secondary site (rush.infostatz.com) and then somewhere (I think under file status?) there should be a button to "View/Print Your Application" It will let you look at your answers and print out the whole thing. That being said, when I interviewed the stuff I wrote on my secondaries never came up once.

waitaminute, do they ask you to bring a printed copy of your secondary??? or are you guys just wanting to reread your own secondary for the hell of it?

I've been in Chicago now the past couple days because I came to visit a bunch of my friends who live in Chicago. IT IS COLD AS @#%^$#. Apparently the temp dropped the day I got here on Saturday. It's currently 8 degrees outside =P
 
Yes, it's been ungodly cold here lately....no, they don't require you to bring a copy of your secondary. It's just some of us like to reread what it is we wrote in our essays, etc to remind us in case it comes up in interviews (not a bad strategy, it's paid off for me in other interviews ).

Yeah, I"ve been here a few days and it' s just ridiculous. I was walking through Millennium Park and Buckingham Fountain yesterday and my face just froze.

Pfft. I haven't even taken my heavy winter coat or scarf and hat out yet. This is still leather jacket and gloves weather as Chicago winters go 😉
 
It's when your face freezes and you no longer notice you can be considered a true Chicagoan 🙂

Either that or when, despite the cold, you can walk through Millenium Park and by Buckingham Fountain and admire the stunning Chicago skyline despite the weather - then you're for real!

Now you're just being macho. It's 10 degrees outside and has been for 3 days! I don't care where you're from - that's cold! (I live in Sandwich though - little town way past Aurora - tends to be 5-10 degrees colder without the lake in the winter).
 
I had completely forgotten (being one of those city-folk who by default think IL is composed only of Chicago) that there was a town called Sandwich, IL. That's awesome 🙂
 
ahh, warm thoughts and the bears beat the packers - thats enough to get me through this cold weather.

quick question - did anyone interview the week of 11/14 - i forgot when we were supposed to hear yay or nay - i got my panties in a bundle, which is strange cause i'm a dude, waiting for that envelope...

Yeah, it's right next to Plano. The city councils are considering a new town in between named Bologna.

I have an int. scheduled in Feb. I know its late, but I'm excited about making the trip to chicago since I'm an out of stater from new orleans.
 
Hey Pewl-
I'm thinking that since the admissions office is open on the 21st (thought maybe they would be on vacation) that there is a chance of some of us from the 7th being complete and going before the committee. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for before new years, but Jill told us definitely by the begininning of January. Anyone else feel free to give your opinion
 
Out-of-stater, I have been complete at Rush sunce 10/24. I have not heard anything. I really want to interview there 🙁 I don't know if it's a good idea to call them 😳
