Hi,
I got As from both and want to get feedback about them from the community. I am a first time applicant, so don’t know how to decide. I am looking to get inputs on the criteria to compare the schools. Please help.

Thanks,

IMO, I would compare location, service opportunities, research opportunities, match rate, weeks of electives/selectives rotations, and board scores. I know someone who attends WVSOM and it is a very good school, I don't know too much about RVUCOM.

Thanks. Allow me to ask some clarifying questions. 1) While I understand all other criteria, I don’t understand how a location can impact the decision. Do I get any specific advantages if the school is near an urban center like Denver vs. a rural town like Lewinsburg? 2) what is the best way to get data about the other criteria, such as week of elective?

Thanks a lot.

No problem. Location is important to me because I would be much happier studying in an area that I could see myself living in especially when choosing between two schools that are both good. To find the other information, searching WVSOM or RVUCOM board scores or match rate can help find this info. For elective weeks, this info is normally found by searching third and fourth week plans which may have been shown to you during interview day and could also be found on the school's website.

I was originally planning on attending RVUCOM-CO until I got a different A. I will say this. RVUCOM-CO has traditionally had great matches and good board scores, however there are other factors that are important to take into account. For example, RVUCOM-CO has increased its class size from 160 to 200. This increase was done all while having the same amount of rotation availability=no good. This is also somewhat alarming because the class was already so large, and RVUCOM being a for-profit school would of course try to saturate their spots so they can get more money. Additionally, some of their classes are taught remotely from their SU campus, kind of tedious and annoying when you don't have faculty there (again this depends on the type of learner you are too).

Just some food for thought on them. I don't know much about WVSOM unfortunately but hope that helps a little.

So, I visited both and decided to go and put my deposit down for WVSOM. There are many factors went into this decision and many are personal, so I am not writing a long list of things here. If you are in a similar situation as me, please send a DM and I will be happy to go into details about my choice with you.

Thanks a ton for all the pointers and advise.
