Hi Everyone,
I am very grateful to have been accepted to RVUCOM-CO so far. I received an II at MSUCOM recently, and am contemplating on if it's worth it for me to attend the interview. I will be considered OOS at MSUCOM, and their OOS tuition is $$$$$. I know that MSUCOM is a more established school and has a solid reputation w/ more potential research opportunities, but I am wondering if the high tuition will be worth it. I know I am not even accepted to MSUCOM and only have an II, but I am kind of struggling financially at the moment, making the decision to attend the II a difficult one.

I have been in similar shoes lately so I'll give my two cents. I was deciding between WesternU COMP-NW and MSUCOM and I ultimately decided to put my deposit down and attend MSUCOM. I am also considered OOS for MSU and I was having a hard time swallowing the cost of attendance, but they actually gave me a non-resident scholarship that brought the cost down to about 62k for tuition a year. Even with the scholarship it still is fairly expensive, but in my mind I think sacrificing cost is worth getting an outstanding education at MSUCOM. I'm not entirely sure if they give all non-residents the scholarship, but I would assume a good majority get it since the COA is so high! My choice ultimately came down to the established reputation of MSUCOM as one of the best, if not the best, DO school in the country and the statewide campus system they have set up for clinical rotations. Also, MI is a very DO friendly state and the majority of AOA residencies are located in MI. My parents and close relatives have all worked in the MI hospital system and have said it's excellent, which swayed my decision to attend MSUCOM. I have scribed for several docs who have either attended MSUCOM or can speak about it, and they have all said it's an amazing school. I don't know much about RVUCOM, but I've also been told it ultimately comes down to personal choice and either way you'll get a good education.

Thanks for your input, it is very much appreciated. I was very conflicted because MSUCOM has a very good reputation and a wide network, as you mentioned. After thinking about it for several days, I decided to decline MSUCOM's II. Cost was a very big factor for me, as well as being close to my support system at RVUCO.

No problem! Glad I could help. Good luck with everything!
