Sackler 2013

Hi, I also applied to Sackler early, like July. I guess we just have to wait. For current students, are there any extra tests you have to take for a residency position in the US since you'll be a foreign graduate?
What's the last MCAT date you can choose and still apply in time for Sackler? Is it realistic to expect that an application submitted in May/June has a chance with these early applicants?
Thanks!
I dont think anyone has any clue how sackler interviews applications. It is safe to bet the earlier you complete it, the better...but make sure you call the new york office to make sure your application is complete and in their files, because they sure will not call you and warn you otherwise.
July might be problematic...
that might be too early for this school...call and make sure.
good luck, if you have any questions feel free to message me and whatnot, i will do my best to answer them.

also, we were told by the dean during our first couple weeks that there are "no extra tests" in order to claim a residency in the US. This is entirely true for New York, as i understand. If there was a test, it would be the clinical skills assessment test that each state licensing committee gives to ensure that graduates of programs a bit unfamiliar to the state are at least of baseline competency.
There are no extra tests. The tests required for residency are USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK (clinical knowledge), and Step 2 CS (Clinical Skills).
You take Step 1 after your 2nd year, and both parts of Step 2 after your third year.
You can Take Step 1 and Step 2 CK in Israel. Step 2 CS is only offered in 5 cities in America and students take it before or during one of their clinical electives in the states.
Best of luck to all you applicants for 2013

spoken accurately... but maji, shouldn't you be busy studying surgery right now instead of on SDN?
Anyone apply yet to Sackler for the class of 2013? I've been complete since July and this waiting period is absolutely killing meee! Just wanted to see if anyone else was in the same boat 🙂
I just got an interview invite yesterday, I was done with the ap pretty early.

So I was hoping people who were applying to Sackler for 2013, and particularly those who have already been granted interviews might be willing to share their stats.
I applied in July and am still waiting to hear.
3.3 NYU undergrad psych
3.3 NYU postbacc premed
32Q Mcat

I am still waiting for all my lors to get there! This wait is killing me, I check my e-mail every 5 minutes... For those who got interview invites this year, what were your stats?
Hey Guys,
I had my application complete with Sackler two to three weeks ago, and was offered an interview a few days after sending in my check and offical transcript. I have a slightly below MCAT score, abover average GPA as a Chem major, and four summers of lab experience as well. I'm not sure why they responded so quickly, but I'll let you guys know what the interview is like.
Good luck to everyone!!

Does anyone know if the actual interview is the only part of day when you come in? Most American schools have a whole day planned but I figure Sackler is different because their actual school is in Israel.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Has anyone in Dallas received an interview?
I was complete in August and am anxiously waiting to hear back.
For those of you who have received interviews, can you please let me know how you were notified (email, mail, phone)? I will likely follow-up with the NY office soon to check on my status. I did check a few months ago and received verification that my application was complete.
via email...gl
I was complete sometime in october and they told me the day after I applied that the applications wouldn't be reviewed until january. Middle of february came and i still hadn't heard so I called them and they told me they sent me an email for me to come in for an interview the on january 10th or so...needless to say i never got the email. the seceretary lady was nice and I scheduled an interview right then with her on the phone.
Anyways, point being, if you haven't heard from them (not to get all hopes up), your email may have gone 'missing'.
Has anyone that has already interviewed heard back? My interview was not too ground breaking and more laid back and conversational. It was more like hanging out for 30 minutes. I think im pretty into this school and would like to know if anyone has any stats on how many people get interviews etc.?

If you have the ability to tell someone's religion from their picture, maybe you should consider applying for jobs at the CIA.Does Sackler accept non-Jewish or non-white students? All the photos and videos I've seen of Sackler appear to only have Jewish students (as I assume from the last names).
The pictures and videos have captions with names of the students. That's why I said "I assume from the last names."If you have the ability to tell someone's religion from their picture, maybe you should consider applying for jobs at the CIA.
It's a serious question. How diverse is Sackler's student body? Is it 90%+ Jewish? Should a non-Jewish even bother applying? Is it like applying to Meharry as a non-URM?
if they dont publicly advertise what their average students gpa and mcat im sure they dont have anything to say about their students religous backgrounds.
I do know of two alumni that are not jews though. You never know until you apply but I would imagine the HUGE percentage of applicants are jewish because they want to live in israel?
But back to my originial questions...does anyone know anything about people getting accepted/rejected after interviews?

At the valuemd forum, there were plenty of people saying they were rejected after their interviews. So I'd say the interview alone is not suggestive of a shoe-in.
omg kidon that is SO exciting! hopefully i'll be next...
p.s. was the interview invite sent via email or snail-mail?
sorry for the late reply. The interview was sent by email telling me that my interviewer's office would get in touch with me, then she just called me on my cel.

They don't have a preference over Jews vs. non-Jews, it is just that there is simply a much higher percentage of Jews applying to study in Israel. Nothing to read into. If anything you'd probably have a better chance since you'd add more diversity to the class.

your religious orientation is not factor into getting accepted... all that matters is that you convey to the interviewer why exactly you want to study in israel... and from that standpoint, israel has a connection to the three largest religions in this world
has anyone else received an interview invitation? i'm still waiting to hear...

I had an interview in late January, and I'm still waiting to hear back. Does anyone have any idea when they make their decisions? My interviewer didn't know. Has anyone tried calling the NY office?

Acceptances will probably be made around end of March, beginning of April. Be patient...the office is quite busy dealing with the match at the current moment. The fourth years are finding out over the next week or so where they will be doing their residencies.
So trust me, the office is probably doing a lot of work right now. If you do not hear by the first two weeks of april, then by all means, phonestorm the office.
but patience at this point will probably help you more than 50 polite telephone calls.
i will update you all if i find anything.

Thanks, guys. I'm getting antsy, since I need to let potential employers for next year know whether I'll be working for them or not. But you're right, thetodd, patience is a good thing

No, I applied two weeks ago, haven't heard back yet. I have a 34 MCAT, but I'm not Jewish.Has anyone received a recent (in March) interview invite?
I talked to someone in the admissions office last week and they said that the committee was meeting last week sometime and they will send out decisions via snail mail. I live in out west a bit so I figure the mail should take a bit longer to get to me.
Has anyone that already interviewed received anything regarding admissions?

I live in NYC and I haven't heard anything. If they sent out letters last week, or even early this week, I should have gotten them by now, so this looks like bad news for me.🙁

I'm also in NYC and haven't heard back yet...Michael, are you sure even acceptances are via snail mail? I think most schools do that through email.
Anyone in this thread get into Sackler yet?
When I was talking to the admissions lady (who was really short with me), I specifically asked her whether acceptances would be sent via email and rejections via postal mail or something along those lines and she said that all will be sent out via normal postal mail.
However, as many of you probably know, this past week was the first time the admissions committee has met for this coming fall's class so those who have interviewed have that going for you i guess.

This past week, was match week, if you weren't aware. Most med school offices are preoccupied with that during this week. I sincerely doubt that the admissions committee was very active this past week.
