Has anyone tried out Safari 4. I see that there's a beta version to download on apple's website. I alternate b/w Safari 3.2.1 and occasionally will use Firefox as well. Anyone care to share their feelings or what they've heard about the new Safari? Thanks.

It's nice. The pages definitely snap load quickly. Some people complained about the tabs on top or the lack of the blue loading bar. Both of those are fixable but I'm fine with both of those things.

Beta's put out by Apple are at least as secure as their past nonbeta releases. Safari 4 is fast and I've not had a problem with it since it came out a month ago. Take the plunge, if you don't like it you always have the option of going back to Safari 3.2.1 if you so choose to do so.

I had my qualms when I first downloaded it, mostly due to the tab layouts and the refresh button (iPhone-like, now). But after a couple of weeks, my brain has adjusted, and I like it a lot.

If you have GROWL installed, you may get a funky error/weird MAIL.app behavior, so if that's the case, Google the issue and be informed. It's not a big deal, but it's frustrating if you don't see it coming.

What's the difference? We don't have to worry about spyware, viruses, trojans, or malware on the Mac side without entering an admin password to install something. As for clicking random links that is always an unseen vulnerability that as the pwn2own contest showed was a vulnerability of Safari 3. Having a hardware firewall, secured wireless, not being on an administrator account, and common sense prevents almost every possible security attack regardless of the browser you are using.

The new Safari gave me a new, hardcore Malware Site warning when I went somewhere I had been to tons of times in the previous version. Pretty sure had previously been there with this version too, so maybe the site changed. :scared:

Or it could be a false positive because the heuristic algorithm is not functioning correctly.
