I was accepted into Virginia Commonwealth University SOM in Richmond. I was wondering if any current or past students or Richmond residents could talk about the safety the surrounding areas of the medical school. Thank you!

Like with any major city, you should be fine as long as you exercise appropriate street smarts, and don't get involved in gangs or drugs. See where current students are living and aim to find housing in similar neighborhoods. This may be more of an adjustment if you're coming from a small town, but Richmond isn't more dangerous than other major cities.
