Anyone know what the job market is like in San Fran? What the average salary for ER docs is out there? Also, if you want to hook up me with a job that would cool as well .

Thanks

Just did the search out there.

Mostly taken over by groups. Very few independent jobs out there. Pay is pretty low, but that's to be expected in any big city where people want to live.

That being said, if you're an ER doc, there's a job. It might not be exactly what you want to start, but then again take my word, there are good parts and bad parts to every job and it's hard to know them until you get there.

There are a few gem jobs out there, but mostly you have to pick up a starter job before you can get any of the really good ones. Most ER docs don't spend too long in their first job. Get your feet wet, make some mistakes, make some money, and decide what you really want out of a job. Then get the dream job.

There are jobs in the bay area but beyond sums it up nice. Kaiser is huge, there are plenty of other groups/independent ED's. Academically, there is highland, UCSF-SFGH, stanford and if you want to go further, UCSF-fresno.

Most people end up going iwth the starter job, or two, and then move into full time positions.

The harderst part of SF is getting your california medical liscence. Start EARLY. like 8 months early.
