Hi everybody,
I'm currently a 2nd year AF HPSP med student without a strong pull toward any particular specialty at this time. I'm really depending on my third year clinical experiences to help guide my choice of residency. Right now I'm trying to decide on the order of my rotations for third year, and I realized that I'll be scheduling my Air Force ADTs (in January '09) before experiencing about half of the med3 rotations. Since these ADTs should ideally be in the field I'll be going into, I'm concerned I may change my mind after scheduling them.
So, once an ADT is scheduled, how easily (if at all) can the specialty of that rotation be changed? Also, do some Air Force rotations for HPSP students fill up faster than others, based on location or specialty?
Thanks very much

Warning: this information is from an Army HPSP perspective

Switching ADT locations/specialties isn't too hard. I just had to do that, as I was previously divided between two specialties, but have since chose which I want to do. I just contacted the new location, secured a spot, changed the orders request online from one location to the other, and called up the coordinator for the first rotation to cancel. So far, at least, it has been relatively painless.

As for some rotations filling up faster than others: from what I can gather, EVERYTHING can fill up fast at some locations. As I said, I just switched one of my rotations. As a result, when I switched locations, there was only one specialty I could switch into. Luckily, it wasn't in something I hated.
