I know I'm jumping the gun on this one, but I can't really find anything about this on the AFIT website or clearly written here.

Basically, I'm wondering what the timeframe is for scheduling ADT rotations. When do you need to start organizing these and when do most people do them? My school starts rotations in January of second year, so I don't know if that makes any difference.

I apologize for what seems like a ridiculously simple question. I'd just like to have a better idea about when I need to be preparing. Thanks.

For the Army, scheduling for 4th year rotations starts no earlier than 1 January of your third year. Try to schedule these as early as possible, as some locations/departments fill rapidly.

Similar question: does anyone have any ideas for a cool Navy rotation to do after I finish Step 1? My school takes the boards a few months earlier than most, so I don't just want to waste the ADT. At the same time I don't want to rotate in my goal specialty and look like a schmuck because I haven't done many/any rotations yet. Any input would be appreciated.

Second year ADT I spent on school orders (studying for boards). You can use your third year ADT in your fourth year, so you can have two ADTs early in fourth year.

ok, cool. That makes a lot of sense. Is it based on the fiscal year change or do you just carry the 3rd year rotation over?

What specialty are you interested in?

Generally based on the 1 October-30 September fiscal year. However, the Army will allow you to do them both in the same fiscal year. I did mine in June/July and September/October, with NADTs in August and October.

I set mine up in March of third year and ended up changing one in May. Didn't have any problem getting spots, but maybe they weren't the competitive programs.
